Gumlog Bar B Que Fish Lodge - Lavonia

Don't get me wrong, the service and atmosphere was really nice and quaint. I had a BBQ sandwich which was ok but the Brunswick stew looked like pureed baby food. My husband had the BBQ plate with baked potato and slaw. I know some people grind their ingredients but it was definitely an overkill. We were staying Tugaloo State Park camping and when I got back I got sick, he did not. Maybe we should've tried the catfish but I think next time we will just take the extra drive to I-85 to eat.

We have eaten here a few times after we bought our place on the lake. Brisket plate the first time. Almost cold when it got to the table and there sauces aren’t very good. The whole catfish are great. Tried a side bowl of bbq stew today to see how it was. I will say they are running neck and neck with Bar H bbq in Royston, ga for the sorriest excuse for stew I’ve ever tried. It came in a small bowl with 2 slices of bread. As soon as I looked at it I thought no,no,no. But, I tried it anyway. About 3 spoonfuls and couldn’t make it work that way so I tried with a slice of bread. The bread was better. Can’t quite decide if it was ground several times or run through a purée machine but it looks like something you would see in a baby food jar. I would say the stew would rate as disgusting. Haven’t tried their bbq meat yet, but, the whole catfish are great and I’ll come back for that

My first time at Gumlog..The food was excellent service was Amazing..

We are weekly patrons it’s that good!!! Prices, quality and service difficult to match. When all other restaurants have increased prices and diminished food portions, Gumlog has not changed. Love it!!!

It's so LOUD in this restaurant that you can't talk to the people/family at your table. I'll meet my brothers sister-in-laws somewhere else next month.
