The place is very nice and elegant, a little hidden but with a beautiful view on the lake. This week I had the pleasure to visit the Il Sorpasso restaurant in Laveno-Mombello and I must say that it was an extraordinary experience. The main focus of the restaurant is on exquisite wines and I was not disappointed. The service at Il Sorpasso was simply outstanding. From the moment of my entry to the adoption, I felt like an esteemed guest. The staff was extremely attentive, friendly and excellent with wine. They not only offered recommendations based on my preferences, but also gave interesting background information about the individual wines. The wine quality was impressive. The wine list offered a wide range of excellent wines from different regions in Italy. I opted for a strong red wine from Italy that perfectly matched my cheese and ham plate. They were served with great care and the glassware were of the best quality. It was a true feast for my palate. The cheese plate in the Gusto del Vino was another highlight of my evening. It contained a selection of first-class cheeses that were carefully selected and perfectly matched. From mild goat cheese to strong gogonzola to creamy cheese – each variety was a pleasure for itself. There was fresh bread. All in all, my visit to the il Sorpasso was a great experience. The quality of the wine of the exceptionally great service and the first-class cheese plate exceeded my expectations.
