Walked there from Hilton. Very friendly. Discovered you needed to bring your own wine. Colleague went to corner and did not have Canadian currency and they would not take credit card. Friendly people at restaurant gave us Canadian currency for our wine. DId not have to do that. Veal Parm was good. Colleague had a pasta gratinee dish. Would recommend View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Giorgio Ristorante:
Food is good and waiters are friendly. But you have to wait close to 1 hour for your food. We went there 3 times in the last month and it was always like that. I guess they don't have enough staff in kitchen. So good restaurant overall but don't go if you are very hungry or with kids. View all feedback.
I used to go to the Giorgio restaurant downtown about 10-15 years ago and when I was in Laval recently with a friend, we decided to check this one out. We weren't overly impressed. My friend had the lasagna. It used to be full of a combination of Giorgio's meat and alfredo sauces, but now there was barely any of the alfredo sauce, plus the spices and veggies in the sauce seemed coarser than before. I had the chicken florentine and wasn't happy with it either. It had sparse bits of chicken and what was there seemed like processed chicken, the kind served in slices at a supermarket deli! There were much too many mushrooms to the point it seemed more like pasta with spinach, a few bits of processed chicken, a bunch of big mushrooms and then a sauce that reminded me of condensed cream of mushroom soup from a can, all just dumped in and mixed. As for the service, we were seated quickly but the waitress seemed more intent on selling us drinks than taking our order. First we said we just wanted water, then rather than simply take that down, she proceeded to list every beverage they had in stock probably in hopes we'd pick something she could bill us for! Then once our food was served our table was not approached on even a single occasion to ask us if everything was ok. Sometimes when this happens too often, it can be annoying, but it would be nice of them to have checked on our table at least once. It was a Sunday evening and not empty yet not super busy. All in all, it was a disappointing meal.
An OK place Good service, average Italian cuisine. Limited menu with groupon ticket, so it's a limited view of their potential. It's recommendable.
I had bought another Groupon worth $76.00 for only $39.00 and made a reservation for Friday night. Ironically, we were quickly seated at the same table we occupied when we had lunch there a while back. There was a bit of confusion as to which waiter would take our orders, Vincent or Jeremy. Caroline, one of the waitresses (who should be a manger) noticed that we were not being served and came over. She quickly supplied us with a bucket for our white wine and explained how this Groupon worked. Basically, we each had a choice of an entree and one main meal. Some nice hot little rolls with butter arrived with our entrees. My wife ordered their escargots $(8) and I ordered the calarari $(9.) The escargots were very good but I was disappointed with their calamari. They were very very small and were accompanied with 2 dipping sauces. For our mains, my wife ordered the Seafood Linguini $(24) and I ordered the Veal with shrimp $(29.) Both were from the 'Chefs Choice.' My wife liked her dish but ended up taking home some. My veal was good in a nice gravy that could have been a bit thicker. My shrimp, 6 in all, were nicely prepared but were average sized. They also could have been bigger. Caroline kept coming by to make sure that everything was ok. We passed on the dessert and coffee, both of which were not included in the special. They also offer some reasonably priced lunch specials. Enjoy.
Dinner on a Thursday. Reservation not required but preferred because it does get busy. On weekends, reservation required. BYOB.Reasonable ambiance (8/10.) Quick efficient service seating, ordering, refilling water
Went with family Sunday for lunch. Our order was taken quick enough but could have ordered in pizza and have it delivered before our meals came. No it wasn't busy. Guess i know why now. The food was mediocre. My pizza was less than exceptionnel. Why i finished it for supper i don't know. Food 5/10. Service 3/10
