The walk up is a bit spooky but that adds to the charm when suddenly you arrive! The host Tino was super warm and welcoming. We had beers out front as it was such a nice night then went in for our Fondu. We were seated with a lovely family and it created a really fun atmosphere. Tino has good energy and some quick witty replies. I can't imagine this existing in many other places so check it out when you're in town! View all feedback.

We were disappointed. Chose this restaurant for its good review but we found it lacking. Food was nothing special and staff was not friendly. Try some other place. View all feedback.
This is quite unique. An unheated hut with no electricity or running water in the woods above Wengen. As we started the supposedly 20 minute walk, it was quite possibly the stupidest thing to do. 2 tourists walking through empty forests in the dark knowingly having cash as the restaurant didn’t take anything but? Anyway, that wasn’t the stupidest as we started to walk when the conditions were such that the path had been compacted and repeatedly frozen so that it was a sheet ice walk uphill which took an hour! None the less, it was worth it for a fondue like you’ve never tasted and a very authentic Swiss evening in the mountains reminiscent of how things used to be.

Having a fondue dinner by candlelight in the middle of a forest is a wonderful memorable experience is to be recommended . However be warned !! .....it comes at a price ......the add-on drinks are way over-priced.....25 SwFrancs for the cheese fondue is reasonable value by Swiss standards but an extra 40 SwFrancs extra for a fairly ordinary gluhwein a couple of glasses of cheap house wine is not .
Tino has hosted our family over a number of years and we love the magical experience of the walk through the forest to his little off-grid hut, lit by candle-light and cooking basic but delicious traditional Swiss food on burners. Watch out for his quince schnapps, which is a killer, but does make the journey home much shorter than the journey up!!
