Was Romy Wieland at Java a mag?
This restaurant is brasserie style, many GF displayed on the menu. Food is delicious, staff is beautiful! I was often there and never got sick. 100% recommended for a celiac disease! View all feedback.
What Andrea Zanetti dislikes about Java:
NOT SAFE for celiac disease. You know what gluten is and even have a GF menu, but don't follow it. I had to ask explicitly whether the broth contained gluten in rice; the answer of the waitress was yes it gluten-free I had to ask her to check with the kitchen, it is not gluten-free... I would not recommend it because it is very difficult as they seem to be aware of the subject. View all feedback.

Very nice place on 2 floors. Excellent food and service. A fairly small menu but with some seasonal suggestions. Friendly staff. I recommend for a quiet dinner
Great service, amazing atmosphere. Not too crowded, but all tables were taken. 65chf for meal, dessert and two cocktails, which is not expensive for the Lausanne city center. I will be happy to be back again :
Always a pleasure to come to Java, never disappointed with the taste quality. Good gluten-free bread and adaptable lactose-free dishes. See you soon
This note concerns two experiences we had with Java between December 2022 and January 2023. During our first visit, we came without a reservation for lunch because my partner is gluten intolerant and they have adapted cuisine. We arrive, a very friendly waitress offers to seat us upstairs and will take care of us for almost the entire meal. We order a truffle risotto as well as the poultry ballotine also accompanied by Risotto. I also take this opportunity to ask the question if it is possible to make sweet pancakes with buckwheat flour (gluten free) and we are confirmed that yes, it is a recurring request, no problem. The dishes arrive but unfortunately the risottos are almost raw and therefore inedible. We therefore reported it to our friendly waitress who quickly brought the dishes back to the kitchen and came back to confirm that she had tasted it and indeed, it was much more than al dente. We joke about it, it happens, no worries. We waited a bit and were served again. Both dishes were very good this time, nothing to add. We therefore order a buckwheat crepe for dessert, once again specifying the gluten allergy. We receive our dessert from another waiter and I notice (luckily for them, before tasting) that the color is too light to be buckwheat. So I call the waiter to ask the question, he is not sure and goes to our first waitress who apologizes, she forgot to specify this in the kitchen. How to put it... we 're trying to put things into perspective but it could have been catastrophic. We then eat the pancake, very good, and ask for a coffee and the bill. Not a single commercial gesture, not even on coffee... it 's not obligatory but it would have been the least we could do... But it was good, so we come out saying that it 's the weekend, relax. So we 're enjoying the experience this weekend. We arrive again to eat without a reservation, but it 's not crowded at all, the waiter tells us that we can go up and sit down (alone). After 15 minutes of waiting, we still saw no one approach our table while we saw the waiter who brought us in snacking downstairs between 2 coffees for the customers. We tell ourselves that he has forgotten and my companion approaches the railing to kindly wave to him. His only answer?

This restaurant is a beutiful place to go, staff serves quickly and food is very good, additionally it has a very good quality to price ratio.
Had a lovely evening at the Java with a group of friends. Although we were about 8-10, the service was efficient. I had a fish that I found very good and most of my friends were happy with their various choices. As a desert I had the salted caramel ice-cream that was delicious! The place has a cosy atmosphere, an original menu and friendly staff.
I like this place, we've been there a couple of times for dinner and drinks, and not disappointed! The food is very good, we've tried salads and tartares, also the cocktails and drinks are well-prepared and delicious. As for the service, I'd say it's quite good and the staff is friendly. Recommended!
I've relished in the fantastic filet american and suffered terrible wifi. I definitely recommend the XXL for the true neanderthal. But don't come for work, as the router is from the stone age. Would be a great place to read a book, or work offline.
The restaurant doesn't look special despite the Serge Gainsbourg / Jane Birkin theme. But service is exceptionally convivial and attentive. And is is THE place if you are looking for a tartar (meet or fish). A definite Asian (Indonesian?) influence on many dishes. Limited winey list but all wines are very nice and fairly priced. Definitely a place I can recommend.

DO NOT come here for brunch. Literally tragic. Staff were mean. We got our coffee 30min after we ordered it. We ordered four orders of pancakes and received only one. After I ate my entire plate, the waiter finally came over and asked us what was wrong. The staff was totally clueless and were constantly delivering the wrong food to the wrong tables. The pancakes were good and the coffee was decent. The fruit salad was more like a fruit salsa and was grainy and weird. Would not recommend. We liked the decoration of this place, so it's a shame the experience was so bad. Won't be coming back.
A friend advised to come here for a brunch and we gave it a try on a Sunday afternoon. The place seemed very lively and packed. We had a booking and were quickly seated. The menu was with few, but intriguing choices and we were definitely in the mood for a good and long brunch. We went for different things and everything was actually tasty. Unfortunately, what totally destroyed the experience was the completely inadequate service. It took then 30 minutes to take our order. The waitress acted as if she was tortured to work there and clearly was not friendly. Slow, making faces and even annoying, she literary managed to kill our experience. The final drop was when we had to wait 20 minutes for the bill.... Definitely not returning there with this attitude of the staff.
We went there for a brunch on a Sunday morning, and were a bit disappointed by the brunch menu, who was poorer than expected. Our order was not respected (I didn't get what I was awaiting) and the portions were relativly small... However, the food quality was good! It was a bit disappointing for us, but maybe we were simply awaiting too much from a brunch at the Java.
We ordered the no comment salad , 18. for 2 table spoons of guacamole, ttwo if humus and two of olive puree? All the tartars were seasoned with some sort of mind which really did not pass well... I ordered the t bone of deer, which was as large as my fist... all the sides were cold. They charge you full price but are not able to deliver in terms of quality. I would definitely not recommend. You have a lot of choice in Lausanne, avoid Java.

Loved this place!! Really enjoyed the goat cheese salad and the salted caramel ice cream. The atmosphere, the decor and background music were nice. And the service was great, and it made our dinner even more enjoyable, thanks Laurent!
