We thoroughly enjoyed the Basil Lamb, steamed rice, the Pad Ki Mao Noodles and a couple of Roti Bread with Peanut Sauce. Everything was perfectly spiced and beautifully prepared very fresh! The service was lovely and the white table coverings of thick paper made the room look very crisp and clean. Overall a great dining experience. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that I feel the prices are a bit high for Lau... View all feedback.
What WestyTweedValley doesn't like about Star of Siam:
Popular, with a comprehensive menu and wine list. Friendly, fast service. Food is fresh, hot, and as described in the menu. However, flavours are poor, not authentic, fairly Western in style, and not really Thai. Would I go back? Probably not. View all feedback.

Very authentic Thai food which is fresh and tasty. Waitress was very attentive and was friendly. The option of having fresh steamed rice noddles was terrific. Recommended and will be back next time we are in Launceston
All food tasted similar, generic. We all were very thirsty after our meal due to all food was seasoning with MSG or chicken powder cheap quality. Service wasn't that great as we waited long time to be served. Basic drink list.
I ordered from here recently after a number of locals recommended it. Apparently its the best Thai restaurant in town. And I can concur....but the others Ive tried have been completely and utterly awful. This one is mediocre at best. Theres no freshness. At all. Tastes like its from a jar. And no vegetarian options. The few there are, they just chopped up some tofu and chucked it in the curry sauce. Real Thai cuisine is fresh, flavourful, and they know how to treat a piece of tofu. Wheres the Thai basil? Wheres the deep fried bean curd? Wheres the bits of lemongrass? At $20 plus per main course serving its not worth it. But then again of youre craving Thai, its the better options in Launnie...or better yet make it yourself. Really disappointed.
Great food and friendly service. All the dishes we ordered was lovely, the best one of all is the egg fried rice (that we ordered for the kids! it was absolutely amazing!!!!
