Ravintola Shalimar - Laukaa

I had a wonderful lunch, my favorite dish is the palak paneer.

I recently dined at the restaurant for lunch with my 22-year-old daughter and was highly disappointed. The lack of authentic Indian flavors was evident in the tasteless dishes. Simply adding hot chili does not make it Indian cuisine. I have indulged in Indian food from various places in India and around the world - whether homemade or in restaurants - but have never experienced such a bland meal before. The portion sizes were generous, but if taste and quality are not prioritized, it is irrelevant. The service started off well, but then one of the waiters began chatting loudly near our table. Additionally, a chef in dirty clothes was seen running around the kitchen, which was off-putting. Overall, it was a very unpleasant dining experience.

I have managed restaurants before and I know that chefs can get messy, but they should not be allowed to walk around customers like that. Overall, this restaurant was a disappointment. My daughter even ended up getting sick and throwing up the meal later that evening. She joked that she was unlucky to have to taste the food twice in one day, going in and coming out.

The food at this restaurant was one of the worst Indian meals I have had in Finland. We tried the chicken Korma and were very disappointed. The chicken was undercooked and the sauce was not prepared properly. It seems like they do not know how to make this dish correctly.

Shalimar is a highly popular restaurant in Jyväskylä during lunchtime, especially on Tuesdays and Thursdays when they serve palak paneer. The restaurant almost always delivers with fast service and consistent quality. In terms of Finnish standards, the Indian food is delicious and comes highly recommended.
