Bad Ramsach Quellhotel - Laufelfingen

If you’d like to have a peaceful time away from a hectic schedule, then spend one or two nights at this lovely place. The hotel (rooms and restaurants) have been updated (not the pool if your main reason is to go for the pool, you might be disappointed). We were fine with it as we just spent 20 min in the warm water, but it’s certainly not fancy. This is a great place to go on long and beautiful hikes!!

Where to start? we (3 family members had a reservation for 6pm, arrived on time to find an empty restaurant and no one to seat us. we found our table by locating a card with our name. a while after seating ourselves a somewhat disheveled waitress appeared and brought us menus and took our drink order. she was not knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu, unable to answer with authority several of our questions (f.x. what is hay soup? soup made of hay, but let me double check with the kitchen... . we had a cold buttermilk soup (very good , a cold meats plate (also quite good , and two salads (absolutely drenched in a sea of dressing as starters, our waitress rarely appeared and was not at all attentive, and we waited very long for food to be served and dishes to be cleared (from ordering to be served our main courses, we waited 1 hour 45 minutes . our entrees were the zuercher geschnetzeltes with roesti and vegetables (was quite salty, but otherwise fine , the pan fried trout (which was returned as inedible, totally dry and flavorless , and the smoked trout (which we requested filleted, but it arrived whole, and when we requested from our waitress that it be filleted, she claimed the smoked trout could not be filleted. another staff member (a very pleasant and seemingly quite capable man named carsten came to our assistance and deboned the fish, which unfortunately ended up being also quite dry and boring. we were so tired of the mediocre to bad food, the very poor and inattentive service, and the long, long waiting time that we did not feel like having dessert or coffee (which was offered on the house . we paid our bill (from which the returned trout had been deducted and made our way home. we will not be back anytime soon. such a shame. the location is lovely, with a beautiful view of the bucolic area sheep and cows grazing, small villages with church spires in the distance, forests, fields, hills..... the restaurant seems to have changed ownership/management and definitely has many kinks to iron out. we were terribly disappointed.

My secret tip from today, despite the current rebuilding, the operation appears very appealing. then a sympathetic personal and also a very good and inexpensive offer, from the appetizer to dessert and selected wines.But also a provesional director, whom I already knew from earlier. so all in all,very recommended!!! bravo herman mazotti!

Has been here for over a year, with beautiful weather and good visibility. eating is ok, something overpriced(va if you take an apéro) the operation ok, "may be more on zack"
