Joan's Cake Chateau - LATHAM

The cake was supposed to consist of three layers, decorated with a draping American flag down the side. The bottom layer was to feature the Venture Crew symbol, the second layer the OA Ordeal symbol, and the top layer the Boy Scout symbol. I even provided them with pictures of each design. While I initially appreciated that the cake arrived early, I soon realized they likely wanted to deliver it before I could see it. The result was a lopsided cake, and they left the Eagle cake topper for me to place on myself. Additionally, two of the three fondant symbols on the cake were actually taller than the layers themselves, and they varied greatly in thickness—from nearly transparent to half an inch thick. As we cut into the bottom layer, we were shocked to discover it wasn't even a solid cake; it was a collection of cake pieces held together with frosting. This was incredibly disappointing, as I was hoping to find a reliable bakery for special cakes for various events throughout the year. Unfortunately, it seems that the quality was not up to par, yet they still chose to cash my checks without concern.

I ordered a white sheet cake for my 50th anniversary party, but it was anything but white and was clearly overbaked. It was incredibly dry. The owner seemed indifferent to my dissatisfaction and simply offered a brief apology. I paid $75 for a cake that was very disappointing.

I recently ordered a baby shower cake, and it was absolutely adorable! The cake featured Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh characters sitting on top of what looked like books from these beloved children's stories. It was beautifully crafted, and the chocolate cake was delicious. I tend to dislike overly sweet frosting, but this one was just perfect.
