If a restaurant has only three things on its menu, they should all be excellent. Here, the three things are bruschetta (ok, there are eight options for toppings), arrosticini (grilled sheep's meat on a skewer) and pecorino cheese. The bruschetta come two to an order I enjoyed one with smoked mozzarella and another with fresh mozzarella and anchovies. Both were wonderful. The arrosticini are ordered by the piece ten would be an average size order. The third thing on the menu was local pecorino cheese, served in a piece of about 4 ounces with some condiments. I did not try the cheese, but can only imagine that it is as good as the arrosticini and the bruschetta. There is a surprisingly deep wine and craft beer list with something for every taste and budget. On a recent Saturday night, every table was reserved, so plan ahead on the weekend. Not only would I revisit this restaurant if I am here again, I would consider a trip from Rome (about an hour and a half) just to eat here. Yep, I liked it that much.
I dared to travel to Laquila, to see for my self the destruction caused by the earthquake. I stumbled upon this small but characteristic abruzzoese restraunt. It mainly specialises in lamb arostichini grilled lamb skewers. They are delightful, small, mouth watering, melt in your mouth lamb skewers grilled to perfection. Between the two of use we devoured 50 of these little skewers. You can order them in groups of 10 pieces but believe me that will not be enough even for a small eater. Great local wine and a warm felt atmosphere. If passing this town definitely worth trying the lamb skewers.
