The food is sub-pair at best, and when you look into the kitchen and around the restaurant you can see why.. there is no pride, no passion, and no customers.. this company with their slop shops. Troppo's have become inconsequential and irrelevant . This is 4 days of wonderful homemade squash soup. (Burn by Chef Becky Jones). (See photes) the current head chef dan rey) menus are basic at best, you can see he(dan rey) has pick off other menu in the area and has fallen flat.. all (dan rey's) restaurants are empty (all) just because troppo's feeds the parasites of the Capital and House, didn't give (dan) clairvoyance to the food scene on the east side of the state.. His standard is fast, fast, frozen, pre made and reheated... I appreciated in Lincoln, Nebraska and everything I did was from scratch.. I have won more awards then troppo's.

We will not return. Had I used the bathroom before eating, I would not have eaten there. It was mid afternoon and empty inside; however, the bathrooms were nasty, no soap (water was in the bottle) and vomit all over the stalls. The manager (who denied he was manager) seemed only to pacify us with our concerns. It was also very unfortunate that items on the menu couldn't be ordered. We often dine at many different restaurants across our wonderful state... This is at the bottom.

The food at this restaurant was cooked to perfection. I was especially surprised by the asparagus, which melted in my mouth. The service and drinks were also top-notch. As an added bonus, we were treated to a complimentary dessert to celebrate our special occasion. Overall, it was an unforgettable dining experience.

The waitress provided exceptional service, and the staff was well-informed about the menu. Although we didn't order any drinks, I highly recommend this restaurant for dining. It comfortably seats four people and can fit slightly larger groups as well. The atmosphere is modern, and they are mindful of contemporary dietary requirements.

I've never felt more welcomed in a restaurant! Throughout our meal, several staff members, including the chef, made sure to check in on us. The Michigan Avenue Martini was exceptional, with fruit that was perfectly soaked and layered. I highly recommend trying the meatballs as an appetizer; their flavor and the meticulous attention to detail in their preparation were outstanding. My dining experience here was truly memorable, and I can't wait to return!

Troppo restaurant offers a mix of experiences that can leave diners feeling polarized. While the atmosphere and views are praised, there are concerns over service quality and food execution. Some customers have reported rudeness from staff and dissatisfaction with the value of their meals, as dishes did not meet high expectations given the prices. However, other patrons have delighted in attentive service, exceptional dishes such as perfectly cooked asparagus, and thoughtful touches like complimentary desserts. Though the establishment struggles with consistency, it remains a destination for those seeking modern cuisine in a vibrant downtown setting.

The waitress was very attentive and the staff was knowledgeable about the menu. Although we didn't order any drinks, I would highly recommend this place for its food alone. The restaurant comfortably seats 4 people and can accommodate larger groups as well. It is a contemporary sports bar that caters to all your modern food cravings.

The food was cooked perfectly, especially the asparagus which melted in my mouth. The service and drinks were great, and we even received a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. It was a memorable dining experience.

I have never felt more welcomed in a restaurant before. Several staff members, including the chef, checked on us throughout our visit. The Michigan Avenue Martini mix was amazing, with fruit that was both soaked in and piled on. I strongly recommend the meatballs as an appetizer, as the flavor and care put into the recipe made it a truly delightful experience. My time here was unforgettable, and I am eagerly looking forward to returning.

First time at Troppo, and the food and service was amazing. Highly recommend the calamari appetizer. Flavor and presentation were wonderful.

We dined with a large group here last night, and it was an amazing experience! Everyone enjoyed their meals, and the service was exceptional. Charlie ensured that everything ran seamlessly...

Although some items on the menu are a bit pricey, I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. Our group shared about five appetizers, but I forgot to...

I had one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, mainly because of the service. There aren't many choices in downtown Lansing, and these...

The food at Troppo's is subpar, and a glimpse into the kitchen and around the restaurant makes it clear why. There’s a noticeable lack of pride and passion, and the place is nearly empty. This chain of restaurants has lost its relevance. I recently tried their homemade squash soup, which was unfortunately burnt, courtesy of Chef Becky Jones. The current head chef, Dan Rey, offers a basic menu that seems to borrow heavily from other local establishments. All of Dan Rey's restaurants are lacking in patrons. While Troppo's may try to appeal to the elite crowd in the Capital and the House, that doesn’t make Dan Rey a trailblazer in the eastern food scene of the state. His standards are disappointingly low, relying on fast, frozen, pre-made, and reheated meals. I have cooked from scratch and received more awards than Troppo's could dream of.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The wine pour at Troppo was smaller and cost $9.00, while at Longhorn, it was larger and only $6.00. Although the wines were comparable, the bartender was rude when I inquired about the pour size. It seems that common sense and courtesy are missing in their hiring practices. This restaurant should prioritize making customers feel welcome, as they are vital for business success. In today’s social media age, staff should be especially friendly and accommodating. Troppo is developing a reputation for mistreating customers and needs to make improvements.
