Contribute Feedback What Bil M likes about Coreys Lounge:
This place is a Lansing institution. It's on the corner of Cedar and Baker, with the latter typically considered one of the worst streets in Lansing. But, in all my years going there, I don't ever remember anybody going to Corey's and having issues. Their food is well-made and tastes great... whether you want a quick burger or a prime rib dinner. The servers are friendly with good banter, and the owner is usually the... View all feedback.
What Dejuan Mraz doesn't like about Coreys Lounge:
I really like this place and I like to support small businesses but the last couple times I've been there I was surprised at the bill. The menu says one thing and then they charge for any extra condiments you get, it can tack a lot on the bill. Once I got a calzone with 3 toppings and an extra side of sauce and it ended up being about $17-18 dollars. Last week we got the burger special and we were charged without bei... View all feedback.
If you can get over the smell as you walk into the restaurant, then give this place a try. The staff is nice and the food is good. I checked out the bathroom for kicks since it 's right by the entrance, but I will definitely wait till I get home. It is not ADA compliant, and it 's...well, small and dark. Maybe if I were enjoying beers and cocktails with a bunch of friends, I may not notice, but be prepared. The dining room is split the bar area and tables covered with tablecloths/paper like an Italian restaurant. They have some widescreen TVs and the music is not too loud, which allows for nice conversation. This restaurant is not in the best neighborhood, so don 't leave valuables in your vehicle. The patrons appear to be regulars and comfortable, kinda like Cheers. Norm! I ordered the French Dip and my husband ordered the Reuben, our go to sandwiches. The portions are big! My husband really liked his Reuben. He liked my French Dip as well, especially because the bread was so soft. The fries reminded us of the old days...eating Ore Ida fries with home cooked meals. I wasn 't as impressed, but perhaps my taste buds were just not cooperating. Warning: There is an extra charge when paying with a credit card. Glad I asked before paying.
Visiting Corey 's reminds me of walking into my great grandma 's house. It 's dated in a sincere way and not at all in a fun, ironic way. It 's clean, a little cramped, and shows it 's age. It 's like seeing a wood paneled station wagon vaguely remembered but homely and non threatening. At the entrance, I transitioned from a beautiful sunny day to a dark enclosure so I missed the sign posted inside about a credit card fee. The bathrooms are not ADA accessible. The patio has some nice potted plants but the wild growth around the fence needs some attention. The fancy room gets paper rolled over the table linen for easy cleanup. This is so remarkably like my great grandma 's house except Corey 's is a little cooler because they have an Elvis room which is fun to look at for about 5 minutes. The staff were busy, attentive, and answered all my noisy questions. My Chicken Fajitas were hot, fresh, and fast! The beer was cold and quick. I 'll be back to try some other food options but it is a bit pricey, especially with the 3.95% credit card fee. There 's nothing wrong with Corey 's other than the place is just kinda ... sad? I 'm sure some good company makes this a better place to have a great homemade dinner.
French dip is unmatched locally imo. Fries are like if rallies were better. You are having a good time.
My husband had the perch and I had a calzone. Both were excellent! The place was clean and the wait staff were friendly and quick with our orders. This was our first time there. We definitely will be going back.
Great fish sandwich. Spinach salad is also very good. I'm not much of a meat eater!!
