On my second time ordering, the food is consistently good. Very personable, accommodating staff.

The staff were friendly, which added to the experience. I appreciate supporting this black-owned business in my neighborhood. That said, I would rate it higher if the chicken didn’t sometimes taste reheated and if the whiting were consistently fresh. The side portions are somewhat small, and the prices lean toward the expensive side. They also tend to close unexpectedly during their posted hours, which has prompted me to try another soul food spot a bit farther away with more reliable hours and better prices. Overall, the food and service are solid, but there are inconsistencies, and it can be a bit costly.

The servings were plenty, and I especially loved the collard greens, shrimp, mac and cheese, and fried fish. The white cake with cream cheese frosting was a highlight—it literally melts in your mouth! The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the chicken wings; they were a bit too salty for me, though others might like them. Overall, my family and I will definitely be ordering from Lorraine’s A Taste Of The South again soon. I can’t wait to try more dishes!

Save your time and money—this isn’t the place for soul food. The cornbread was dry and hard, and the collard greens were the worst I've ever had. The potato salad left a strange aftertaste, and the mac and cheese was dry, with just unmelted cheese on top and barely any seasoning. The chicken tenders and whiting were also dry and tough. The meatloaf was worse than cafeteria food, comparable to a frozen banquet meal. I don’t understand how this place has a 4.6-star rating. This has been the worst restaurant meal I’ve ever had. Plus, seeing several microwaves in the kitchen didn’t inspire any confidence.

She was met with a man locking the front door. She asked if they were closed. He said yes and theywere closed for the day and I should have gotten a rejection. I ordered a chicken wing platter with macaroni and cheese and string beans. The food wasbasically reheated in the microwave and tasted really old (like it was left overs from yesterday). If you?re a soul foodrestaurant, why isn?t your food made to order? Why didn?t I deserve freshly fried chicken and macaroni and cheese that wasn?tdried out? It?s a recession and people are struggling, so when we have the privilege to eat out and enjoy food that was cookedfor us we deserve to enjoy the food. Food is expensive across the board no matter where you eat, at least make it enjoyable. Iwish I would have just saved a few bucks and went to Popeyes.
