It was my first visit to try this establishment. I would say it was a 10 plus. Service was good. The food was delightful. Atmosphere was great and the staff was very friendly. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sammy J's Grill & Bar Langley:
Service was great but my chair back was broken so I replaced it, table was wobbly so I jammed napkin under, beer tap was broken so their normally small beer selection became puny (tonight it was bottled domestic only - who does this??), our two happy hour portion sizes were quite small. Overall - there are too many other great places in Langley to go to to bring us back to SJP's. View all feedback.
Haven’t been to Sammy Js in awhile, but decided to give it a try for dinner with a friend. We shared the Panko shrimp and each had the Wicked Tuna salad. The shrimp were very much like the breaded shrimp from Costco and seemed expensive for what they were. The salads were fresh enough, but were a little light on tuna and for pineapple they had used the core instead of the juicy part. Overall the salad fell flat. The servers was attentive and she compt’d the shrimp for the short comings of the salads but I wouldn’t hurry back.
Always a pleasure dining here. The menu is very exhaustive. Over the years have tried a lot of things and all have turned out to be very nice. Has a very nice vegetarian, vegan and gluten free menu as well. The drinks and desserts are also superb
Ate at Sammy J's on January 30, 2021 around 7:30pm and our service was horrible from start to finish. Our server Sara S took a while to serve us our drinks (there was only 2 of us at the table) and I ended up not realizing the drink I ordered was not what I actually thought it was (note this was a pop not alcohol). I asked her if I can switch it for something else, she was fine with that. I never saw the other drink again. I also had tea and I asked for a hot water refill, that also never came. We ordered two appie plates, quesadilla and jake up skins. The meal must have taken 40mins to finally arrive at our table (it was appetizers), and we had to ask about our meal in order for Sara to actually go and check to see where it was. It must have been sitting for a while as it came to us cold and the chips for the quesadilla were stale. We had to flag her down as she wasn't even going to come and check to see how the meal was. We let the waitress know about the cold meal and she asked if we wanted another order and she will put it on rush, we were fine with that but we also let her know about the stale chips. She brought us more chips (still stale) but the rush order of quesadilla never showed up. When I questioned her about it at the end of our evening she said she thought we said it was ok not to order another. Never did those words leave our lips. We ended up eating our cold meal. We ordered dessert and suggested to her that since our meals were cold maybe they can give us the dessert complimentary. You would think as a rep for the restaurant it would have been her suggestion and not the customer asking. Also she never offered to get us a hot drink with our dessert. This was weird as most restaurants that is usually what accompanies a dessert. I personally think she was put off by us asking for a complimentary dessert. The only time Sara our waitress showed any interest in us was when it was time to pay the bill. I guess at that time she needed to pretend as it was tip time, which she never received, kind of like the proper meal we didn't receive.
Sammy J's is the first restaurant during the Covid Pandemic that didn't give me the tiniest version of the actual dish The salad was huge just like when you dine in. You have restored my faith in ordering take out. Other restaurants need to learn from you, they have literally halved the size of their take out dishes since the pandemic.
Food is consistently good, happy hour rocks and the football CLUB is a blast to be involved in !!
