Sungai Chenang Steamboat Grill

Really good fun. Pick your own soup ingredients from crab, prawns, shell fish as well as a whole fish and all types of fresh meat. Chose, fish balls, fish cake and good choice of fresh vegetables to add to your soup. Noodles and rich also on offer. Back to your table and make your soup or put on the grill. Deserts on offer too from cakes to ice cream. Word of warning, if you are not used to the heat in these tropical climates, do not go on a hot night! We thoroughly enjoyed the evening but the heat from the steamboat and grill was overbearing! Take a wet flannel with you, you'll need it! Very good value for money, just under 70 ringgit for the 2 of us!? Will go again, but not when it's 30 degrees in the evening!

For 35RM per person, I would say this is a very good deal. While the soups are not the best quality, they had very fresh whole sea-bass and squid. The chicken is well marinated. The beef is OK, but not suitable for BBQ. There is a wide choice of veggies an other items for the steam boat. They have 5 different flavors of ice cream. They also had good tapai.

After eating here, I am definitely full until the day after tomorrow. They do not provide that many varieties of food compared to other steamboat-style restaurant, but all of the raw proteins are fresh and well-marinated, and ready-to-eat foods are delicious. Plus point, it is only RM35 per pax and they use charcoal for grilling!

Decent selection of items to choose from for grilling and steamboat, although I did hear the staff there grumbling how we sat around for two long (around two hours) which was rather unintentional since we had a baby to take care of and could only take turn to enjoy the meal.
