**Restaurant Review: A Mixed Bag of Experiences**
Nestled by the beach, this establishment offers a delightful location but suffers from inconsistent service. While some patrons rave about the superb Sunday roast and friendly staff, others lament overpriced meals, stale food, and long waits at the bar. The ambiance is decent, although the seating arrangement in some areas resembles a school canteen. Many visitors note the noise from nearby traffic and cleanliness issues in the rooms. Overall, while the restaurant might appeal to some for its coastal charm and pleasant garden, others recommend exploring alternatives nearby for a better dining experience.

Staff were very friendly and dealt efficiently with a misunderstanding over one food order, so good marks for service. The halloumi stack was very tasty and the chicken schnitzel went down well. Recommend! View all feedback.
What JulieR dislikes about Beach Green:
Had to wait over an hour just for our order to be taken. Portion sizes were small for the amount of money they were charging. Ordered deserts and that was a long wait too. Unfortunately will not be going again for food. View all feedback.

The service was very friendly and efficient, the area we sat in was lovely but the food was pretty awful all round. We ordered lime chicken which was dry and inedible and the calamari which was chewy and no where near hot enough. The oven chips were also dry and overrated. The desserts were mediocre at best the gin tiramasu was like a homemade trifle made by a child abd the brownie, I particularly asked if they had a gooey centre and was told most definitely, was like a very firm and dry chocolate cake. All in all the food was poor. We certainly will not be returning for food.
Really great welcome from Front of House and friendly, happy waitress. Really good menu. Only disappointment was that some of the food arrived warm but not hot. We asked for it to be heated up and staff very apologetic. The chicken schnitzel also a bit dry. We were offered free coffees to make up for the issue. I would go again as it was a nice evening. Hopefully the cooled-down food was a one-off.

First lunch out after lockdown. Exceptionally friendly people, good food. Biggest surprise of all was their enormous enclosed garden!
Had a great time at bottomless brunch here with Friends on Saturday 24th October...breakfast was lovely and there was no tightness on the prosecco, so once the bottle was empty you get another ....would definitely recommend. Thank you

I can genuinely say that the new Sussex Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. The management and staff are incredibly helpful, and there's nothing they wouldn't do to ensure a great experience.
We had lunch there today and was very disappointed, an hours wait for 4 adult meals, 1 of which was a salad. Owner explained the delay was due to a...

I spent one night in room 8, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was, especially since it's located on a roundabout. The location is fantastic, just across from the beach. There's a lovely large garden in the back where you can relax. The staff were extremely friendly and polite, and we particularly adored their gorgeous dog!
Extremely rude service! When you're charging over £6 for a pint, you expect a certain level of decorum and professionalism. The landlady was very disrespectful, and we have no intention of returning.
When I arrived at the bar, there was only one person serving. Once he finished serving, he went off to make tea and coffee. The girl behind the bar was occupied with drink orders for the restaurant quiz night crowd, while the landlord was busy delivering drinks to the restaurant. The only other staff member was taking food orders. As a result, no one was attending to the customers waiting at the bar. At least four people, myself included, left in frustration. If the landlord isn’t interested in walk-in customers, he should close the doors and make it entry by ticket only. I remember when this was a bustling and lively pub, even without quiz nights. I will never return and will advise my friends to stay away as well.

This is the ideal spot for gathering with family and friends, offering a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The live entertainment is top-notch, and the food is superb. The staff is friendly and incredibly helpful as well. I will definitely return and highly recommend this place to others! :d
I spent an amazing evening at the New Sussex last night, and I can honestly say it was the best day of my life. The level of professionalism and attention to detail from the staff was truly impressive. They took care of over 100 guests who arrived an hour early due to the weather, and then treated us all to a beautiful buffet and grill that completely exceeded my expectations. Islay, Fiona, Andy, and the entire team made our day unforgettable for my family and friends. When I say it was the best day of my life, I mean it wholeheartedly, and it's all thanks to the wonderful staff at the New Sussex. My partner and I are about to go on our honeymoon, but I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for such an overwhelming and positive experience. A million thanks!
Great little BnB for a few nights stay at a reasonable price. Rooms are spacious and clean with the standard amenities you would expect. My only complaint, and it's a silly one, is that the beds are on the short side and my feet were hanging over the edge. Food is fresh and tasty, maybe slightly on the expensive side for what you get, but nonetheless well presented and tasted great! Would definitely stay again when visiting the area.
Big pub loves to go for a frying drink and have eaten here and had bar food that was beautiful.
Wow! The cauliflower wings are incredible and are vegan. Curried cauliflower 'wings ' with homemade mango chutney. I 've been twice in a week for the starter alone. I 'm told they have a new chef and you can certainly tell, everyone loved their food Kudos to the chef, not a single disappointed diner in our group and we had a varied dining party. Beer is expensive but that is the 'location tax ' I guess, would highly reccomend for a meal, we went for a family birthday and invented an excuse to go back the second time! Great food, amazing chef and friendly staff Would highly reccomend.
