Stopped for Sunday Lunch on a cold January day. Wonderful warm welcome. Two open fires going! Food was delicious. This is my Shangri-La ! I enjoyed the red cabbage apple veg dish, a nice surprise. Beer is good and well kept as it should be. Full marks there. Will be returning on my Birthday for another treat. Can't wait. View all feedback.
Staying nearby so came for dinner. The pub is full of charm and history. The food is amazing had the vegetarian lasagna and the cheese was thick. Service was of the highest standard and very friendly. Highly recommend
A real find! This is a charming, 'proper ' pub of the type so rapidly disappearing. Good service, good food, and good company. We called in on our way to the Isle of Man ferry service from Heysham, and will encourage other passengers to do the same.
Came across this lovely olde worlde pub by pure chance having been turned away at others in the area who classed us as 'walk ins ' got a real warm welcome even though busy and a lovely cosy atmosphere. The food was excellent from the roast beef dinner to the game pie to the lamb henry and finally the bbq chicken breast all had the trimmings as well and what value for money will certainly be calling back when in the area !!
Good honest tasty food in a traditional country pub, would highly recommend. The steak pie is unbelievably tasty and very meaty, perfect puff pastry and with the best chips ever, The gammon steaks are great with 2 sizes available suited our group. A good choice of deserts, especially the trifle and the sticky toffee pudding sundae. The staff were friendly and professional, from the hosts to the waiting staff, who were constantly on the go, keeping busy serving food and keeping the tables clean. One of the waiting staff did a great job with our desserts. Ps the drinks were spot on, beer is good too. If your out and about in the lune valley or nearby, it's worth popping in but would recommend booking a table. Will definitely be going back!
This is an unspoilt country pub which we visit regularly that has remarkably avoided the usual Farrow Ball treatment. It is cosy friendly especially in the bar area where there is often a bit of local banter going on. On entering it appears quite small but there are other dining areas in warm weather a lovely beer garden ! Although not cordon bleu the food is tasty good value, indeed much cheaper than the norm as is the real ale. There is a large carpark across the road which needs care when crossing ! Can recommend when visiting the beautiful Lune Valley !
