Captain Gus’s is a breath of fresh air in a fast casual dining scene stuffed to the brim with unremarkable chain restaurants. My cheesesteak was easily the best I’ve had since moving to Lancaster 10 years ago and the staff was friendly and nice. Much like Route 66 Restaurant on the other side of town, the rundown interior may deter the uninitiated but it’s their loss. View all feedback.

I placed my order and while waiting, I took notice of how dirty this place was. From the walls to the ceiling, it seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The meal was amazing! The cheese steak had the perfect combination of sauce, cheese, grilled steak, and onions. The freshly cut fries added a homemade touch to the dish.

I can't believe they close from 2 to 4 and then close at 7, what the heck? And to top it off, they're closed on Sundays. That's not how you operate a business. The cheese steaks are smaller, soggy, and tasteless. Overall, the quality has declined since Gus passed away.
This restaurant serves the least appetizing sub I have ever tasted, made with four imitation croissants in a bun. The server even recommended having it cold as a sandwich. I had hoped there would be a unique recipe to make it more flavorful, but it seemed to just have basic ingredients. I gave it two stars for the freshness of the bread and the salads.
