Mill Canyon Grill - Lampe
Mill Canyon Grill
Description
Nestled in Dogwood Canyon, this themed grill dazzles with patio seating, waterfall views and a nature-park vibe. Expect regional specialties (bison, elk, hearty soups) and standout dishes alongside inconsistent execution—some plates arrive cold or reheated and cocktails have missed the mark. Service ranges from attentive and apologetic to occasionally rude, and prices skew high. Ideal for scenic lunches after hikes, families and tourists, but bring patience: the view is reliably excellent; the food and service can be hit-or-miss.

We finally received our waters at 2:20 PM, but the glasses were dirty. Our food arrived at 2:37 PM, and to our disappointment, we were told they were out of white gravy and had substituted it with brown. My husband dislikes brown gravy, and what made things worse was that the mashed potatoes were freezing cold. The steak was overly fatty and unappetizing, while the burger was cold and unappetizing as well. The only thing that was fine were the cold French fries. The waitress seemed uninterested in attending to us, which contributed to the overall terrible experience. However, despite our disappointing meal, we had a fantastic time at the canyon and thoroughly enjoyed the trout fishing. The ladies at the stables were lovely, and the staff at the gift shop were very accommodating. Ray, our tram tour guide, kept us entertained and laughing throughout the two-hour tour. Overall, I would recommend everything except the bistro, which was both expensive and disappointing.
The grilled cheese sandwich was overcooked, or some might describe it as burnt. We ordered a bison burger, grilled cheese, and fried okra, and our total came to $50. My wife and I shared the burger while the kids shared the grilled cheese. The fries were a bit cold. For the price, I was hoping for a better experience. On the positive side, the views from the restaurant were fantastic! Service: Dine-in Price range per person: $20–$30.
**Meal Type:** Dinner **Price per Person:** $20–30 **Food:** ★★★★★ **Service:** ★★★★★ **Atmosphere:** ★★★★★ **Recommended Dishes:** Trio Sliders, Bison Burger, Bison Reuben Sandwich If you're a vegetarian, I'd highly recommend checking out their vegetarian options, though I'm not entirely certain about what they offer. Overall, everything was exceptional!
Good food and beautiful view. The restaurant at Dogwood Canyon was unique and had a great view of a waterfall. It’s a fairly small restaurant and menu but the food we had was delicious. The water was very different tasting so you might want to select something else or get bottled water. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch
It's such a shame. The Mill and Canyon Grill was at one point a brilliant restraunt with a great menu with a mix of locally sourced ingredients and carefully prepared cuisine. The great news is that you still get to pay those prices for mediocre food and beverages. I ordered a burger fries and their signature old-fashioned. It was all bad, plain burgers and fries, and I had to send their old-fashioned back. I've had thousands of old-fashions (I'm not an alcoholic it's my drink). I've been to the heart of bourbon country; this was an abomination. The second attempt was still bad. The wait staff got food wrong, then demanded to fix it and made a scene in front of the entire dining hall, loudly proclaiming they were more stubborn. Despite being told not too they then brought the food out (we are almost done eating at this point) and then made such a scene that I literally had to tell them they were making it 1000 times worse. About $140 for 4 people for lunch, appetizers, drinks, burgers, salads, and chili, all of which were well below expectations or historical experiences. It's such a shame. I used to love this restaurant, and my whole family talked all week about how excited we were to spend time there again.
