Kairos restaurant is a few blocks from the square, and has some of the nicest decor of any restaurant in Tarapoto. Henry, the owner, worked as a plaster finisher in the USA, and he applied his trade to the interior. This is one of the few restaurants in town with air conditioning and Wifi, so enjoy them on a hot day! They offer a fairly typical noon Menu (fixed price menu) of Peruvian food for S/.10 (about $3 dollars). Tables are very attractively set, service is excellent, and the waiters, who I took to be Henry's sons, also speak English. We had a beef stew and boiled chicken. Both were served with white rice and a starter--fresh salad or a very nice chicken soup were all that were left by the time we arrived. A juice drink and small dessert completed the meal. Food was good, a bit better than most standard lunch Menu, but he also offers an a la carte menu which displayed much more imagination, with Peruvian, Fusion, Mexican, Spanish and other dishes. Prices for these are about 20 soles. He also offers a fixed price grill at night, which we will certainly try.
