My wife and I visited this place for the first time. There are not a lot of tables in the place and a lot of space between them. We were invited to sit, later they told us the table was reserved, but later they told us (again) that we don’t have to move. They apologized for the misunderstanding.Other than that moment, everything else was good. The food was good, the service, the wine and the salad.I got the pasta wit... View all feedback.
What Glorilyn Arnett doesn't like about Capri:
How this place has 4 stars is mind blowing. Our clue should have been 0 cars in the parking lot at dinner time yet our hungry souls ventured on anyway. We soon found out why, when it became evident there was no love in the food. Ordered a NY strip medium and got a bland slab of beef well done, no spices. Husband ordered shrimp scampi and it was made with jarred garlic and Costco shrimp and the entire plate was swimmi... View all feedback.
Old-fashioned, family-owned place that's been around since 1950. Best lamb chops I'v ever had. Nothing fancy, but friendly service and a view of the lake.
Despite making a reservation they did not have it noted, but the facility was empty s seating was not an issue. First the service was slow the entire meal, almost 3 hours for dinner. The food was adequate at best. When the second course was delivered, the dirty salad dishes were still on the table, and we had to lift them and hold them while the server put down the appetizers, they took the salad plates from us. Same when the main course arrived. We sat there holding the dirty app dishes. We ordered desert and coffees with one tea. The coffees came out and it was a good 15 minutes with two trips up to the bar to ask the waitress for milk, and sugar, and the tea. She responded that they were making the tea. We knew the coffee was kurig, but the tea cup came out with hot water and a side tea bag, so what were they making. Never a follow up visit to ask if things were ok and if they could get us any thing else. Not busy at all, for such poor service.
We went on a Saturday night in July. Beautiful location with a view of the lake, old time Poconos dining room wide open very nostalgic feel. The bread was warm and refilled often this was the highlight of dinner : . I think the calamari appetizer came frozen from Costco but the marinara was good. Linguini with white clam sauce pasta was overcooked, there wasn't much to the sauce, side of broccoli was overcooked and mushy. The salmon was just ok. The baked potato came out cold, we sent it back. It was returned to us over microwaved and inedible.
Yes, the place needs updating, but Lake Wallenpaupack is right outside the window. The red pepper appetizer was different and tasty. I enjoyed the Penne ala Vodka, and my friend said the Veal Parm easily passed her restaurant test . We both agreed the sauces were delicious and portions plentiful. As you can see, we left no crumb behind and took home enough for two more meals always a plus. Service was terrific: instantly greeted at the door, waitress very attentive, pleasant and helpful. Easy to see why this place has been around for decades.
Veal parm and stuffed salmon were top notch. Heavy pours and great service. They get all the little stuff right. Dont worry about the decor its all about the view and the food.
