I typically... read more Amazing food and wonderful service! My husband got the sample platter and I got the brisket platter. The brisket was a little salty for my husband. I typically put salt and pepper on my food, so it was perfect for me. They bring you a hot BBQ sauce and the sides we delicious as well. I would also recommend taking some delicious pie to go, if you're too stuffed. The peanut butter chocolate chip was to die for!! Go local! It's worth it!

This is the place. 1/2 rack is a ton of pork. Amazing service ask for Crystal she is the bomb, great recommendations, great service, friendly definitely good at what she does. Coleslaw was fantastic and the real mashed potatoes are to die for. Oh wait if you like apple sauce this homemade Applesauce with cinnamon is the best I’ve ever had. The Chile wasn’t bad either and the corn bread muffins were simply awesome.

I’m not sure how this restaurant operates on a typical day, but Fridays are absolutely delightful. The fresh fish was exceptional, and the coleslaw was so exquisite that I crave it even when I'm not hungry. The lightly fried fritters were also a treat. While the service was a bit slow, it was understandable since the restaurant is family-run. Kids aged 9 to 18 handled everything from serving to checkout, and they did a better job than many adults I've encountered. The food was definitely worth the wait. The peanuts served as an appetizer were fun to enjoy, and the atmosphere was so lovely that you felt like you could stay forever. Tea is served in glasses, so you never need a refill, and it’s freshly brewed and delicious. This is one of the hidden gems of Pinetops—a fantastic spot for tourists like me, as well as a great place for families, singles, couples, and everyone in between. It’s truly wonderful!

Last minute I met an executive decision called Grumpy Jake. I called Friday night at 6:45 and asked how possible to order food for about 10 people for the following day. I picked up at 3:30. Louis, was very accommodating. I could even pick up 30 minutes earlier. The food was very good. Our party guests always asked where this barbecue comes from, is it good? We ordered ribs, pulled pig, brisket, beans, Koleslaw and homemade buns that were also delicious. So thank Grumpy Jake for a successful birthday party.

I would rate the food a perfect 5, as well as the service and atmosphere, both also receiving 5 stars. I highly recommend the pulled pork. Additionally, there’s plenty of parking available, with a free parking lot option.

The sandwich came on a soft, fluffy bun, and the pork was juicy and tender, complemented by a rich, sweet, and smoky BBQ sauce. The homemade chips were crispy and not greasy, though they lacked flavor on their own; however, they were fantastic when dipped in the BBQ sauce. The fries were perfectly seasoned and cooked, requiring nothing extra, but I couldn't resist dipping mine in the BBQ sauce, which really enhanced their flavor. For dessert, we tried the banana pie and the brownie à la mode. The banana pie reminded me of banana Laffy Taffy, so if that flavor isn't your favorite, you might want to skip it. The brownie, on the other hand, was warm and flavorful, and it was our favorite of the two desserts. If you're on the hunt for a great BBQ place that offers fast service, friendly staff, and a clean environment, this spot is definitely worth a visit.

The chicken fried steak wa... read more I recently visited Grumpy Jake's for the first time, and I was not disappointed. We ordered the chicken fried steak and the meatloaf. The chicken fried steak was enormous, completely covering the plate, perfectly cooked, and generously topped with delicious gravy. The meatloaf was also excellent, smothered in brown gravy that tasted homemade. We also tried the garlic mashed potatoes, which were fantastic. The mac and cheese was decent but reminded me a bit of Kraft Deluxe with some extra cheese added; it didn’t have that homemade feel but was still tasty. The coleslaw had a nice flavor, but it was chopped very fine, so it lacked some texture. The cornbread was moist and flavorful. They have a display of pies at the entrance that looked amazing, but I was way too full to try one—perhaps next time. Overall, it was a great experience. The staff was extremely friendly and efficient, and the restaurant's atmosphere felt comfortable and welcoming. We definitely plan to return.
