The food, service and ambiance were all very good. I like to tip my server in cash. While contemplating the tip amount I discovered that an 18% gratuity had been automatically added to the ticket without my input. I heartily disagree with this practice. Very sneaky and deceptive. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about El Mariachi:
The meal was enjoyable, but upon receiving our bill, we were surprised by two additional fees and an 18% gratuity added, as well as a $2.87 charge. Our initial $49 bill ended up being $61. After questioning the charges, we were informed of a 3% fee for using a debit card, bringing our total to $63.45. When expressing our dissatisfaction with the extra costs at checkout, we were given $2.00 in cash back. Despite the g... View all feedback.

We arrived at 20:15 in the restaurant (restaurant closes at 21 o'clock) we ordered drinks and then placed our order. after approx. 20 minutes the server brings our food to the container. we are confused and ask why? she says there were some confusion in the kitchen and offers to place them the dinner. another 10 minutes pass and the food comes on a dish, but cold. we ask them to reheat. we finally get our meal, eat, and we're finished after 9 o'clock. we pay our bill and don't make any thing of the mix. at 9:09 the waiter comes by and calls us that it is time to go. that he is not paid overtime and the restaurant is closed. we ask to speak with the manager who says absolutely nothing (not a word) when we explain the situation. I will never go back to this restaurant and strongly encourage others to boycott this badly guided facility.
Poor Service music was so loud you couldn’t have a conversation. Asked to turn it down just a little so we could hear our conversation. Waiter said can’t turn it down. Yes, they were fully staffed. Watertown El Mariachi Mexican Restaurant is the place to go.
I have had great experiences dining at this restaurant 5 or 6 times. It can get busy at times, but the kitchen doesn't seem to be affected by it. The portions of food are large and the service is excellent.
I was born and raised in the heart of California. I grew up with authentic, genuine mexican food. This was not it. The rice was dry, tasteless, microwaved too many times. The tamale was dry, absolutely drowning in unnecessary sauce. The burrito was fresh, and was very good, despite the chunky white microwaved cheese atop all the sauce. The salsa.. was not fresh. It lacked any spice, flavor, and zing. On top of this, my iced tea cost me $3.25. I waited no time to receive the bill, but it took an extra 10-20 minutes for anyone to come over to me to pay the bill to leave… in an empty cantina. I’m sure this place once had passion, but that flame is long burned out.
