The homemade sourdough bread and ham and cheese omelette are highlights, but some menu items may fall short. The pricing is reasonable and the cinnamon buns are a must-try. The owner-operated feel and welcoming staff, along with the fresh food, make it a worthwhile stop for those looking for a family diner experience. Overall, a solid choice for a quick, simple meal without a big wait.
Staying in Lake Country last week, looking for a breakfast place close by without driving into Kelowna. The Wooden Nickel is a locally owned bright little breakfast and lunch restaurant. They have friendly staff and hearty portions. I ordered the eggs Benedict, others had bacon/sausage and eggs with homemade sourdough bread, yum! We also went back for a lunch, great sandwiches as well. It is wheelchair accessible and has good parking...I have a broken leg and am using a walker - ample space for seating within. Please support our hard working local restaurants and vendors.
We went to the Wooden Nickle for breakfast. They weren't full but service was quite slow. We had to ask for coffee and water refills every time we wanted as the waitresses didn't notice. They have fantastic home made sour dough bread but it was soaked with butter. Had a ham and cheese omelette and it was quite good. Would return if there weren't other options.
The fresh bread is worth the stop alone. But the food is always fresh and hot. And the special will change your mind almost every time. Service is great and coffee always hot and fresh as well. Don't let the outside looks fool you. It's worth a look inside.
Four of us went here for lunch. Three ordered breakfast and found the food good. I ordered a burger platter and found the burger awful. The meat had so many spices in it didn’t even taste like ground beef. Also I’m not a big fan of hot house tomatoes which was on my burger as I find them tasteless. The fries and gravy was okay though.
A great place for breakfast or lunch; excellent local home cooked food, great service and easy going atmosphere.
