We had the full Adirondack experience in this winter wonderland. From a delicious dinner made to order by Chef Cathy along with a wonderful wine Ernest told us about to accompany our dinner. Then we went on our first horse drawn sleigh ride lit with old fashion lanterns. It was such a gorgeous ride into the woods. We were thrilled this extra activity was offered and we were able to do it. The whole evening was an old... View all feedback.
What Shiner J doesn't like about Lake Clear Lodge:
Think twice before booking this place for a family or business gathering. Simply put, they are disorganized and poor at planning and communicating. Many of the positive reviews here suggest they are okay when dealing with small groups or diners. I would also love to support them, given that it is a local, family-owned business. But nevertheless, if you're considering staying here, be warned that the lack of organizat... View all feedback.
Earnest and Cathy went above and beyond to make everything work for our group. Would love to go back for a longer stay again soon.
My wife and I made this the highlight of our Adirondack getaway. We booked the stagecoach ride, beer tasting seminar, and German dinner. Unfortunately for us, our car broke down earlier in the day. However, I called the lodge and they gave me the number for the Polar Express shuttle bus. The driver was great and got us both to and from the restaurant. The weather was dark, cold and pouring rain, but we still did the stagecoach ride. It was like riding in a medieval forest. Makes me appreciate having a warm and dry vehicle (when it's working). Still fun and memorable. The beer tasting was interesting and I appreciated getting to try six different pours. I only wish they were 5oz instead of the 3oz ones. We also opted for the pretzel as a side. Huge and freshly made with house mustard. Afterwards, we sat in the speakeasy and enjoyed a plate of goat cheese snacks, a beer from the cellar and a Sidecar cocktail. Then, upstairs for the dinner. We had house made soup, beer bread, tomato salad, and our entrees were the saurbraten with spetzle, and the chicken schnitzle with potato pancakes. Both dinners also came with corn and red cabbage. We were absolutely stuffed. But, we still ordered a slice of marzipan cake for dessert. The next time we go back, we will try the lodgings.
First time visit to Lake Clear so we booked the Wagon Ride and Pub dinner. The wagon ride was about 25 minutes long. For $25, this wasnt a bad price and the horse handler was charming. Unfortunately, this was the only pleasant part of our experience. The pub dinner does not start after the ride. First, you must go to their speakeasy and pay more for a drink or appetizer. The experience down there was confusing and cringeworthy. When the host realized we wouldn 't be paying for additional drinks/food, we were sent back up to the dining area for our meal. The $35 dollar meal consists of schnitzel, 2 potato pancakes and a side of corn. There was also a small bowl of cornbread and cabbage. Upstairs, all other tables received soup as well. When we inquired why we hadn 't gotten any, we were told we had only ordered the pub dinner and therefore didnt get soup. For $35 a plate, I would expect a five star meal or a lot of add ons (such as soup, dessert, etc). I would have even been satisfied with a drink as the add on for a reason to be brought down to the speakeasy but clearly they are all about charging for every little thing rather than actually making the experience worthwhile for their guests. For three people, we paid over $220 for a 25 minute wagon ride and a lackluster dinner. For $60 dollars per person plus $45 in fees , I just cant understand where my money went. I am so beyond angry at this clear money grab. Please beware--do NOT waste your time here. If you do, just do the wagon ride. Avoid eating and interacting with the staff if you can.
We ate dinner at the Lake Clear Lodge this past week. Kathy Ernie offer a German themed night that we adore. The night starts in the real 1920's speakeasy, where Einstein ventured. They offer delicious, authentic speakeasy drinks and ambiance. The speakeasy has the lodge feel, with all of the magic of the Adirondacks. The music is often old-timey as well, transporting you back to over a century ago. The staff take great care to sanitize the tables, menus and area. We saw first-hand how they cater to each detail to ensure safety of their dinner guests. Guests are told to wear masks anytime they are up from their tables, and tables have been set to be further apart, with windows open for increased natural air flow. Finally, we were invited upstairs for our 3 course meal. The dining room offers beautiful views of the over-100-acres the lodge sits on. The dining room is adorned with unique Adirondack style plate wear, and cups. The food is all farm-fresh, and absolutely delicious. At $40 a plate, it is well worth the price tag. This is the best German food I have ever experienced. The service that the Lodge offers is one-of-a-kind. My family has been going here since 1976 (really, no joke), and we go each year for a beautiful night out. We will be back next year, as always!
Not bad. Could be better. Come hungry there's a lot of food and if you like beer this is the place to be.
