Walked into the Melo Abreu in Ponta Delgada. Had a great Sirloin Steak with Egg and Fries for 10 EURO. The steak was thin, but juicy, with wonderful flavor highly recommend it! My wife had the hamburger and fries which was very good, but she was surprised that it did not come on a bun...may have been something lost in translation. We also had the local Imperial beer it was great! View all feedback.
What BMCouto doesn't like about Beiral do Oceano Restauração Lda:
Owner is an horrible person, saw him having a just mean atitude with a local customer, food is just average. If you're going to the area, just a few meters away you have O Capitão restaurant, a truly good restaurante with a very funny owner and one of the best fish sea food rice I ever had! Quiet restaurant with a nice view. Ower waiter Andre was very polite and the food was good, like homemade.
We stopped here for lunch and had a great meal. I don't eat meat or fish but the waiter was happy to make me a salad not on the menu if I didn't want the vegetarian spaghetti. I went with the spaghetti and the portion was huge. My partner had the fish he got to choose from what was on display, with the waiter explaining the taste of fish my partner was unfamiliar with. I am reliably informed the fish was cooked to perfection. There was a real mix of diners on the day we visited. The owner even looked after one young couples baby so that they could eat. He told us he was a grandfather and clearly the baby was very comfortable with him as he gave the baby a tour of the restaurant. We had starters of local cheese with red pepper jam, mains and great desserts.
We were told this was the best brewery in Punta Delgada so we wandered by. Door was closed so we peeked in the window and it turns out that they were closed for renovation. However, the folks working inside opened up just for us and poured us a beer! Very nice chat...really want to go back when they reopen!

We eat regularly at this restaurant because it's so good. It sits on top of the ocean and it has a great view over the Atlantic. Whether the sun is shining or it's pouring rain, the view of the ocean is either spectacular or awesome (on those days the sea is rough . Even if it's not for a meal, try this restaurant for the best beer on S. Miguel: Cerveja Melo Abreu with an appetizer that could even be freshly cut french fries. Now for the food: I have not had one bad experience yet, and I eat there very often. The prices are very affordable and the quality of the food is first class. Some people may argue that the portions are smaller than other restaurants because there are never any leftovers. The fact is that the food is so tasty that you end up eating according to the motto: don't leave food on your plate. Try the steak, try the fish, try the fish soup, try the shrimp, try the catch of the day, the stewed beans, the grilled chicken, and if you are daring, try the stewed or baked octopus, a local delicacy and cooked to perfection. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. There is a dress code, though. Men: please don't go in bathing suits or wearing sleeveless tanks. You will be offered a borrowed shirt : or be invited to come back properly dressed.
