What User doesn't like about Hideaway On Lee:
I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this restaurant, and the live music was a nice touch. The Avocado Salmon appetizer was delicious. However, I was disappointed that I had to box up my entire entree to take home. It’s not ideal to serve appetizers at the same time as the entrees; it feels unprofessional. View all feedback.
To make a long story short, we were charged $10 per person to reserve a table, which is non-refundable. We had a party of eight celebrating a birthday. After we arrived, they wanted to charge us an additional $10 per person because there was a band playing (Julian Primeaux, who we love). This was the final straw, and we decided to leave. The management at this establishment seemed clueless. They asked us to pay $80 just to reserve a table, which we did, hoping for a decent experience. We were a group of eight looking to eat, drink, and celebrate, but they didn’t even consider refunding us that initial charge. Then, they wanted to hit us with another charge after we arrived. They seemed to think we would simply shell out an additional $80, which would have led to a total tab of $400. To say the least, their management was unhelpful and argumentative. Instead of dealing with their poor service, we left and went just a block away, where we found live music, outdoor seating, delicious food, and an overall fantastic time.
C 'est magnifique!!!!! I visited Lafayette for the first time last weekend and checked my Yelp for some suggestions on where to go. Not much is open around here on Sunday 's or Monday 's- but the Hideaway on Lee is!! We showed up around 8pm on Sunday evening for dinner- and the place was packed! We were surprised to see that they had live music that night, and unfortunately there was a $10 cover per person if we wanted to sit outside. It was hot and humid thaf night so we ended up sitting inside and did not have to pay the extra money. I have to say- our dinner here was EXCELLENT. The specialty cocktails were amazing. The Orange Blossom Special was literally the best smelling drink I have ever tried.... IN MY LIFE. I know that 's a strange thing to say- but I literally could not stop picking up my glass and smelling my drink! We started up our dinner, sharing the Poutine. Fresh cut fries soaked in a flavorful gravy, covered with cheese curds. For our entrees I ordered Tante Jane 's Salad and added chicken. The veggies were all fresh, the dressing was light and flavorful and the chicken was juicy and well seasoned. My boyfriend ordered the Steak Frites, but unfortunately they were out of it- so he ended up getting the cut of the day steak. I 'm not sure what cut it ended up being- but it was perfectly cooked- tender and juicy. Being our greedy selves, we also ordered a bowl of the tomato soup- It was excellent. All in all- the experience here was great. The service was fast, the employees were all nice and helpful, and the food was all prepared perfectly. Also, I have to say that the band outside was great too! There were a handful of couples outside dancing to the music. The atmosphere here is lively!! I would return!
Great music almost every night, great food in a relaxed fun atmosphere. Bring your dancing shoes and an appetite.
I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. However, the service was a bit confusing and could use some improvement. If you're just ordering food, you should place your order outside at the white shack. If you plan to eat and drink, it's quicker to order inside. They offer handy QR codes on the tables for their e-menu. The food itself was delightful! The burgers were juicy and full of flavor. While the wine and beer selection isn't extensive, there's still something decent to enjoy.
I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant, largely due to the hostess, Katherine, who was surprisingly rude and aggressive. When I reached out to management to express my concerns, they seemed more focused on defending her behavior, claiming it was hard for them to believe she would act that way. Having worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade during my high school and college years, and even majoring in hospitality for two years, I consider myself quite patient. However, Katherine really shouldn't be in a role that involves public interaction. There's a lot more I could say, but I can only share so much here. Overall, while this place has potential, I’m hesitant to return after such a negative first impression.
