Renowned for it’s michirones (broad beans) with patatas cocidas con ajo (potatoes in garlic) to be eaten with a glass of the house vermouth, is a real treat. Outdoors you would never guess what delights lie within. Inside the surroundings are large and small barrels of tempting drinks and racks of bottles of quality wines, with everything at great prices. This place does not seemed to have changed much for generations, it is the locals watering hole. As foreigners we received a warm welcome from the very helpful staff. After our meal I noticed a tempting bottle of Moscatel for just €3, at that price it was worth a punt. But our young server said, “Would you like to try it first?” He then gave us a small glass each of the delicious drink. I had taken a bottle and took away 1/2 litre of the excellent house vermouth. To top it all with the doors open wide we had sparrows and goldfinches hopping around inside during the meal. It was a delightful hour and will be returning very soon to try the delights of those enigmatic barrels. Lovely food and wine at excellent prices. My tip is to go to the La Union market on a Tuesday morning and then come here, it is open on Tuesdays to 3pm.

Typical tapas available as well as a large selection of wines and spirits. You can even get a good house wine from the barrel for about 1.60 a litre. Certainly be back again.
