On the quayside at La Trinite-sur-Mer...... chequered tablecloths, tables close together, mainly French regular clients, very buzzy, very French, mouthwatering monkfish and scallop dish to die for, here's a chef who can cook....wine 19 euros, service excellent in spite of being ultra busy.....on the main quayside road which was slightly off-putting but compensated by the view....would I return? you bet. What Cyril Flatley doesn't like about Le Quai:
We visited Le Quai. Had a fish soup for starters, it seemed to come out of a can, very average. I had 6 oysters which were good. We both had the Gratin de lotte which was nothing to brag about, it was served steaming hot in a cream and tomato-based sauce. Nothing fancy except the price. View all feedback.
No bookings are made, but if they are ready to wait on the bank opposite, then they will be as soon as possible. the outside area is preferred, since inside is very hot and the street tables are loud. the service is excellent and. all menus are on board the walls. one or two of the employees speak English, but it is better if they can speak French. eating is well cooked and our favorites were the fillet and the crème brulee, which probably the best in france.
We ate here twice at our recent visit to carnac and at a previous visit in 2018. at all 3 locations, the food was excellent and the staff went out to speak with us in English and explain the menu. we ate as a family of 5 2 adults and 3 children . if they like seafood, they will be in the sky, but they also do a fantastic filet steak! the half covered terrace with views of the marina is beautiful. highly recommended.
The plat du jour was amazingly good (ordered once I'd figured out what it was the waitress was happy to explain the Breton word for squid! , as were the other three mains of sole and steaks. As for dessert: Café Gourmand consisted of a...profiterole, a sort of panna cotta with a raspberry coulis, a tiny creme brulee and a large portion of Chantilly. Yum! Will be sure to visit again next time we're in the area.
Good wholesome portions. Fish soup was gorgeous and the crevettes huge. For main course we recommend the monkfish and scallop gratin. Also the crevette with nut sauce. Stunning food. The staff were excellent as our French is poor but they also made our dog very...welcomed. Definitely returning again
As well as the food being delicious here, the service was excellent even though the restaurant was busy. Currently, I’m learning French and the waiters were very helpful and patient with this and were more than happy to help me out with the language. I’m...really pleased with the attitude of the staff and the quality of the food. I would highly recommend this restaurant!!
