Had some good food and some ok food whilst on holiday this week. Definitely had some poor service round town. This was the best food of the week, with great service. The menu is limited, so check there’s something for you before going in. My husband had penne with tomato, mushrooms and mozzarella and I had pasta stuffed with aubergine in a Parmesan cheese sauce. Both were gorgeous. Had to go desert: pannacota and tir... View all feedback.
What Wilfried Noll doesn't like about Le Comptoir Italien:
We had dinner here wednesday night after spotting osso buko on the menu. Service was nice and polite. Food was very average. Arrincini balls i was charged 12 euro. 2 balls. Absolute disaster. Mushroom starter also 12 euro also total rip off. 97 euro dinner which should of been 67 euro. Steak plain Osso buko average. Stay away View all feedback.
Found this by chance not far from the Marina and were so pleased that we did. A lovely restaurant with authentic atmosphere serving fantastic Italian food. Menu was on a formula basis with choice of main/pasta plus entree and or dessert at fixed prices. However, you will not be disappointed as there is about 4-5 choices in each course and even though our teenage son is generally quite fussy, he even struggled to decide what to order! After enjoying a delicious and very generous caesar salad and bruschetta starter, my son and husband enjoyed a steaming hot pasta whilst I had a fantastic saltamboca; so much so, that we were even too full for dessert. For the pasta, you are provided with a great big chunk of Parmigiano cheese to grate yourself at the table so the freshness simply adds to the flavour. The wine list offers a genuine Italian selection and our Nero d'Avola red was served at the perfect temperature. Even though they were quite busy, the service was very efficient but not instrusive and certainly extremely friendly. We were the first to arrive not long after 19:00hrs , but it quickly filled so either arrive early or make a reservation if you do not want to be disappointed.
Located in the heart of the city, the setting is relaxing and the decoration neat. The menu is varied with an inventive and tasty Italian cuisine. The reception and service are professional and especially charming and attentive. A must-see restaurant in La Rochelle located within the heart of the old town, the restaurant design and surroundings are both peaceful and relaxing. The menu offers a wide range of tasty and inventive Italian dishes. Welcome and service are highly professional but above all kind and dedicated. This is THE restaurant to dine out when in La Rochelle
Having sampled an amazing number of oysters and mussels along the French coast, we decided to search for something different. We stopped into Le Comptoir Italian, expecting to have pasta, but were so wrong. We each had starters, one with veal and the other with ham, which were wonderful. Then the main course arrived. My wife had the fillet of saumon and I the filet de maigre, a white fish. The meal was simply spectacular. The bottle of Chianti was an excellent accompaniment. We had such a good time we ordered the tiramisu for dessert. Service was simply wonderful. Our sever spoke English, when my French failed. This is a true gem in La Rochelle and ignore those negative reviews!!
Arrived around 7:30 and was quickly seated inside. Menu is limited however the three of us each had a different dish and each was tasty and well-prepared. Service was excellent though is better to arrive early if you want to eat quickly. Highly recommended.
