friendly welcome and good small dishes. The room is pretty with a fireplace welcome to warm up. We wanted to change the accompaniment of the dish of the day and the boss said yes no problem. A good time. View all feedback.
What SONIA L doesn't like about Chalet de la Grande Rochette:
They couldn't cope with the crowd there and staff stressed out, waited 40 minutes for bbq sausage, frozen chips and bit of salad. Completely overpriced. Charged 5euros for small bottle of water (should have insisted on tap water maybe.. ! Nice terrace outside thou, but wont go back View all feedback.
We ordered 2 steaks and 1 lamb dish (souris d’agneau cooked for 7 hours and they were all very chewy (even if the steaks were ordered ‘saignant’ . We tried to share with the manager our opinion so they can improve the quality of the meat dishes but she shut us down. View is fantastic. Servers are nice (but not the manager
We came with a small child and tried to take a table inside (all tables were free) but were told that there was no service inside because there were a lot of people sitting outside . WTF! And outside there was no place for 4 people. Finally we succeeded to find a table and again were told in a rude manner that the table is usually served with drinks only but only for us they would be so kind to serve food . Very bad service for the price approx 1,5 times higher than the average level in the region. The food was OK, but again overpriced.
We have been before to this restaurant and always had a good experience but today they let themselves down. Two of four meals were co!d. We sent one back to be warmed but when it came back the lamb shank was undercooked and tough. I could not be bothered to send it back a second time as my fellow diners were half way through their mea!s. I did not eat it and explained why when they cleared the table but they still included it on the bill and no amount of arguing made a difference. The manager would not engage us and sent the very sweet waitress instead. Bad form and disappointing behaviour. Won't go back. We are easy money.
Crepes with chocolate filling was raw, tasteless and dry. Service was typical French, quite rude and slow. I would go somewhere else.
We went as a family of six as a treat for my husband who was injured and couldn't ski so he paid to go up. The views were lovely and we looked forward to our lunch. The children were hungry and we tried to order. We were repeatedly ignored by the surly waiter. The one with piercing at the back of his neck and dark hair. (sit in a different section) and it began to feel personal. Half an hour later we gave up feeling very annoyed. We finally ate at a very friendly restaurant at the bottom of the lift. It was a relief to feel like valued customers again. Avoid!
