Went there for dinner and wasn't disappointed. A very unassuming setup, but with a family atmosphere. The prawn curry and the mutton were both great, even came with a crunchy veg pickle. View all feedback.
This restaurant looks like nothing from the outside in fact we hesitated before going inside... But don't be put off you aren't there for the kitsch decor, gambling corner or dilapidated building the curry is that good! We ordered the samosas and lamb mince kebabs for a shared starter which all were delicious the pastry crispy and not oily, with homemade fillings and the lamb chutney was divine! My sister couldn't get enough of the apple atchar that she even convinced the owner to pack a padkos Bakkie for her! I ordered the whole crab curry and it was worth the wait (it takes a bit longer than the others) and enjoyed every messy, hot morsel. Don't order if you can't handle getting your hands dirty. Around the table went silent when the mutton curry, butter chicken and seafood curry arrived and was enjoyed by all. The butter chicken is more tomatoey than most will be used to and calamari in the seafood curry was a little rubbery but otherwise delicious. Note on the heat of the curries we ordered on the mild side to be safe but if you enjoy feeling the heat of a curry go for the medium it's worth it!
My family has been praising this restaurant for years, and I finally got the chance to visit last month. If you're looking for five-star dining, this isn’t the place for you. However, if you're in the mood for fantastic Indian cuisine and don't mind the location, you should definitely check it out. We ordered takeaway bunny chows, and my prawn bunny chow was absolutely divine! The hosts were incredibly friendly and even offered us a nice table with a great view of the flat-screen TV, so we could watch the Wimbledon semi-final while our meals were being prepared. We enjoyed some samosas while watching the match, and they were simply delicious.
My family in Johannesburg recommended Seabelle. As we drove to La Mercy, we felt a bit apprehensive about the area and the restaurant's appearance. However, we were warmly welcomed by the hostess and received excellent service throughout our visit. I'm truly glad we decided to try this seemingly unassuming place! We ordered the chicken curry and the prawn curry, and we were not disappointed! Both dishes were flavorful without being overpowering. Seabelle is definitely worth a visit!
I visited for dinner and it exceeded my expectations. The ambiance is quite simple, but it has a warm, family-friendly vibe. Both the prawn curry and the mutton dishes were excellent, and they were served with a delightful crunchy vegetable pickle.
