We had a lovely trip, staying at Auberge des Peupliers. Not too far from the village, our room was spacious and confortable. The spa was a little bit outdated but otherwise a great stay! Thank you! View all feedback.
What Trent Sporer doesn't like about Auberge des Peupliers:
If you don't mind paying about per person for an average meal in a slightly depressing ambiance, then this is the place for you. The duck magret was overdone and overpowered by the chorizo and sauce. The gnocchi was average. The appetizers were OK....But the most galling was the bill, which included a service charge, BEFORE taxes, which means we paid an additional in tax on the service. When I enquired about this unu... View all feedback.
This was our second visit to Auberge des Peupliers, and we were just as pleased as we were during our first stay. The inn is located a short distance from the center of Lamalbaie, which contributes to its peaceful atmosphere and offers a beautiful view of the St. Lawrence River. The rooms may not be spacious or modern, but they are very comfortable and reasonably priced. The bar and dining area are charming and inviting, and the complimentary breakfast was delightful in every way.
I stayed at this restaurant for the weekend and enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet that was included in the package. It was so good that I went back for more a few times.
This restaurant is located within a quaint hotel and serves dinner made with locally sourced ingredients, including lamb from their own farm. The wine selection is extensive with a variety of international options, but we opted for a delicious red from British Columbia. The food was impeccably presented and of a very high standard. I enjoyed a shrimp cocktail followed by the organic lamb, both of which were delightful. My friend tried the gazpacho, which was lovely, followed by the pork loin on olive and lemon-infused Israeli couscous, which was absolutely amazing. Our waiter was professional, helpful, and friendly, making for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
We enjoyed staying in the auberge of the peupliers. the place is beautiful, eating is excellent, and the service is great.
The food was very good and well presented, although service was a little slow. We had the foie gras, which turned out to be pate rather than a slice of foie gras, pricy at but was very good. The stuffed quail was delicious and my...husband enjoyed the braised pork. The English translation of the menu needs to be reviewed as the descriptions are misleading. The pork was described as being served with oysters. We thought that a bit odd, so checked the French version which said pleurotes, which are oyster mushrooms and were very good. My only complaint is that the music was loud and intrusive, a common problem. If you spend a lot of time and effort to prepare good food in a pleasant setting, then please pay attention to the music. Soft instrumental music is most appropriate so guests can enjoy conversation.
