First time visit. Enjoyed outside seating and dinner was fabulous. Convenient dinner before enjoying la Jolla playhouse entertainment. Note: parking is down the hill in a parking garage. There is a shuttle that ferries you up the hill for convenience. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about James' Place Prime Seafood Sushi:
The staff was very nice, but I was disappointed with the food. Maybe the non-fusion food is better.... the fusion food wasn't great. In the end, I have a lava cake, but he wasn't melted. View all feedback.

The worst culinary experience I've ever had. Bad service of uncoordinated employees and overpriced Blandfood. This place survives only at shows next door. Skip the pain and take the food literally before a show.
I usually don't leave reviews, but we had such a bad experience. Went for a show at Playhouse and got dinner before. We weren't in the rush, but after we order our first drink and appetizer, our waiter has completely forgotten about us. We ate our appetizers, finished our drinks and water and waited for 20 minutes before we had to call them to place our dinner and drink refilling requests. The food and water refill came, our drinks never did. The waiter never looked at us, even though he always went from us and looked at us and our table. We called them after another 20-25 minutes to see if they remembered us and asked about our drinks, we said the bar lost the ticket and the drinks would be the same outside. We finished our meals and sat there with empty plates and water cups, our drinks never showed even though we saw them at the bar (we were trying to go up and get them). No one stopped by to pick up our plates, refill our water or even ask how we did it. We finally got the waiter's attention and asked for the check. We felt completely invisible. The food was good, but expensive for what it was and paired with the bad service unacceptable expensive.
So we tried the James? Last night. It is a restaurant next to La Jolla Playhouse, and apparently people go for dinner right in front of the shows. It should be a higher limit, and the ambience was pleasant enough, but the food was AWFUL. Her salmon was over boiled and dry and hard, and her wagyu Burger was dry and cooked as it almost done well, although I asked for medium. Servers were nice, but they didn't refill any water. Such a hard pass! The parking situation is also a little confusing for first timers, as it is on the UCSD campus. Apparently you have to park on the street at the South Parking Structure and then drive a shuttle to the restaurant.
