Pretty good al pastor quesadilla, a bit on the greasy sideThe La Jolla burrito tastes ok (chicken with potato), huge portion, can probably fit 2 people. The shrimp taco as well as the fish taco are both great. Also liked the sweet corn tamale. It is a good restaurant if you are on a tight budget View all feedback.
What Jeff Tong doesn't like about Don Carlos Taco Shop:
The burritos may be the standout dish at this restaurant, but we decided to try the carne asada and carnitas tacos. Unfortunately, the carne asada was overcooked and not recommended. The carnitas, however, were tasty and had a nice crunch. For better tacos, I would suggest going to Oscars Mexican Seafood. Note that this restaurant does not accept mobile payments. Skip the line for taco shack and come to this hole in the wall spot.This place is so much better for much cheaper. Coming from Austin, I’m used to high quality tacos, these for sure got the stamp of approval.Beware, the portion sizes are massive, biggest burrito i’ve had in SD!Food: 5/5
