Cortijo Spanish - La Jolla

Our family of four just returned from a 4 night vacation. Having stayed at many all inclusives, I would say this should be consider mid grade 5 star. It was GOOD, and realistically what I would expect for the price. To get better, we’d have to spend more. Good- food, choice of restaurants (buffet and steakhouse both good), overall service. Shows at night were pretty good as well. Lacking- main pool ice cold, renting a cabana at pool $199-$299 USD (ridiculous though they were 98% sold out) our tower was across from Chambao steak house (great restaurant by the way) and it is LOUD, we had to turn fans on in our room to drown out the noise so we could get to sleep at 11 PM. The hotel should really be taking action on this. Exceptional- our room came with a personal concierge- Alejandra- she was amazing, friendly, helpful, she made our stay much better. Also the hibachi restaurant was surprisingly absolutely awesome. Maybe the best Hibachi experience we have ever had. This is the only restaurant that requires/ allows reservations, and it fills up, so make sure you book upon arrival. Overall would we stay again? Perhaps, but the cold pool and loud music from Chambao may also be enough to steer us in a different direction

This is a very nice resort, and the staff work very hard to show everyone a great time. The food here is generally good, but not great. When we came over new years all of the pools felt very cold relative to the outside temperature. Most restaurants had a wait if you went after 5:45PM, and none of the bars have cocktail menus so it’s hard to know what they can do or get something special you might not have heard of before. Overall we probably won’t return just because of the great time we’ve had at other resorts we enjoyed previously. The place is nice, I expect most everyone has a good time when they visit. Something I don’t hold the hotel responsible for the game of reserving chairs in the morning is pretty out of hand. I don’t think there is much the hotel can do, but if everyone just used chairs when they needed them there would be plenty. Because people reserve them all day and only use them a couple hours it can be hard to find chairs on peak days.

Estuve en una cena con un grupo de 20 perdonas, se el servicio fue muy tardado y entregaron mi plato frío era pasta con mariscos y los callos estaban congelados por dentro... el servicio del mesero fue muy atento.

Personal muy amable. Alimentos deliciosos. Instalaciones amplias y muy limpias.

Our family with a 10 month old and 3 year old had a great stay! The highlights were the service and amenities. Every staff member greeted us with a genuine smile and they all place their hands over their heart when saying hello which we thought was sweet. Cabana rental was a must with small kids in our opinions. Allows you to order while being at the pool vs waiting in line. All cabana servers were amazing. Christian and Manuel especially went above and beyond to provide over the top service. We enjoyed the Buffett food and the fire pits were fun at night. Beach was large and nicely kept! Bummer is you can’t really swim in the ocean because of the current. Would stay again!
