Contribute Feedback What The French Canuck likes about Les Platanes:
Thanks to hints from local we discover this French gem in the middle of wilderness that has been established since 1945 over 3 generations. After tasting over 100 restaurants in France, it has to be one of the most memorable experience. The friendliness of the owner and staff with the gastronomy experienced worth the detour or a nice drive to reach. The Fois Gras Poele is the best I have eaten in France with their ap... What Édith Dupre doesn't like about Les Platanes:
this restaurant is usually perfect but a little disappointment during our last visit. damage: the menu of children too salty, unmangeable, in my salad, the crayfish were forgotten, the usually delicious frogs were small and in small quantities, and the dessert really much too sweet. I guess the usual cook was missing. I recommend it anyway because this does not reflect the other visits. View all feedback.
The Malapel family has been running this restaurant since 1945, when the structure was part of the local railway station. Les Platanes specialises in the cuisine of the Dombes and Bresse. This evening we had hors d'oeuvres of foie gras de canard poêlé, terrine maison and carp sausage. For the entrée a selection of grenouilles, lake fish, Bresse chicken and Charolais beef, followed by a choice selection of mostly local cheeses, and the freshest desserts of sorbets from fresh forest fruits. The wine was a 2012 Givry from Joseph Drouhin in south Burgundy. The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambience inviting and unpretentious. Mme Malapel took care to talk with all her guests, and her son Serge heads the kitchen. In summer the terrace under the plane trees is very popular, but this year the weather has not been so kind. I would recommend Les Platanes unreservedly to anybody who seeks to try the local cuisine in Dombes/Bresse.

Great discovery, everything is good from entry to dessert. The shaded terrace is perfect, service also. We do not recommend any problems.
