Maple At Descanso Gardens

The service was above average from the hostess to our waiters. And the management was just unbelievably courteous and attentive to our needs would highly recommend coming for any occasion would suggest getting reservations

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our first time visit at this resturant. He had the French Toast, which was thick and rich, served with fresh orange slices and I had the Maple Delta, the equivalent of a decadent BLT spilling over thick slices of ciabetta bread. Our server, Rozette, was friendly helpful and attentive. We made reservations online, which was super helpful and easy, we had only a few minutes wait time on a very busy day. Overall we were very pleased with the entire experience.

I'm looking forward to returning here soon! I can't wait to check out the new menu. I visited with my sister for a stroll through Descanso Gardens followed by brunch. Everything we ordered was delicious, well-prepared, and fresh. I truly enjoyed all the dishes we tried. Although it’s a cozy space, I believe it can still accommodate moderately sized groups comfortably.

The service at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. I believe they should switch to a reservation-only system instead of stating that there will only be a 30-minute wait, which then extended to 35, then 40, and finally 55 minutes. The hostess seemed to be choosing names at random, completely ignoring the order of arrival and reservations. After waiting nearly an hour to be seated, I hoped the food would make up for the terrible service, but it didn't. The food was cold. The level of service was unacceptable, and I feel embarrassed for the restaurant. For a weekend brunch spot, you'd expect them to manage the crowds better, but they appeared to be quite disorganized. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning or recommending this place to anyone.

The staff at Maple is attentive and considerate, but the management leaves a lot to be desired. This review reflects my experience on April 14, 2019, when I celebrated my birthday, although I've had similar issues on other occasions. Despite having a reservation for two on Sunday, we had to wait 30 minutes for a table. When I make a reservation, I expect the restaurant to have my seats ready for me; instead, we waited just as long as walk-ins. To make matters worse, it took over 20 minutes for us to receive our check. My server, Jamie, was incredibly sweet, but she was managing a very rude and demanding group on her own, and she was literally running around trying to keep up. These issues clearly stem from management, not the staff. The food was okay, possibly even good, but the overall experience was disappointing and left a negative impression. As a Descanso member, I won't be returning to Maple anytime soon.
