Good food and like all new Mumbai restaurants, "small plates" with a twist concept. We were unfortunately seated at a table near the bar so it was a little noisy as people were hanging out waiting for their table. The food was good and though the staff was knowledgable, they were a little overwhelmed by the occasion as it was a Sat night which meant the place was packed. Would go there again and take an earlier sitting so that post dinner one can hang at the bar. This is a new addition to the bustling Kamala Mills in Mumbai - the new dining hotspot.
Theory is a newly opened restaurant and lounge in Kamala Mills compound. It is located right next to Koko. The inside gives it a nice premium look with dark colours used. It has continental/american food. Food is excellent but the quantities are small and definitely not cheap. Drinks and food are priced for the premium crowd. Lately is is the most popolar late night party place just like Koko was. The who's who goes to Theory on the weekend.
I visited this restaurant with expectations of a great lunch with clients and I was not let down. The service started off well and the restaurant was not too busy. The menu had a good variety of options and the carpaccios were excellent. The portion sizes for the main course were decent for one person. However, as the restaurant got busier, the staff seemed to become more distracted and we had to keep seeking them out. Perhaps the service could use some improvement. Overall, it is a good dining option at Kamala Mills. I would recommend making a reservation in advance.
My feedback includes: 1. Valet parking is available, so no need to worry about parking. However, I would recommend taking an Uber as you will love the cocktails here. 2. The place can get quite crowded, so try to snag a seat at the bar stools. We did this on both occasions and enjoyed the fast service. 3. Starters take some time to come out, so it's best to order in advance. 4. We absolutely loved the cocktails and drank them all night. 5. The pricing is reasonable considering the fun atmosphere, quality of food and cocktails. If you're on a budget, skipping the starters can save you some money. Overall, this restaurant is a great option for a night out and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
This newly opened restaurant has a moderate price range. We started with vegetarian dim sum (although they smelled of non-vegetarian or fish oil), hummus platter, falafel, and crispy vegetable pizza which were good. The bar is large, but it takes a little longer than usual for drinks to reach your table. The restaurant is very noisy and the music is so loud that you have to shout to be heard even at a table of four. It seems like the utensils and oil used for preparing vegetarian dishes are also used for non-vegetarian dishes. The dim sum dish had a strong smell of oil that put us off. Despite not complaining, our friends and we didn't touch the dim sum once it was on the plate. When asked if everything was okay, I requested that this practice be stopped, but the hostess didn't seem to understand and just said she would check. Despite this, we enjoyed our time together and didn't focus too much on the food. The bill came to Rs6000, which was quite high for four people and drinks. Enjoy!
