Ramen Zundouya Kyoto Sanjo

Great alternative to Ichiran ramen folks in kyoto recommended it and we enjoyed it! great if they like beautiful and thick broth. if they have space in their travel plan, they should look at this! they have many options and sets to it together with. bier is also quite cheap here!

When we went around 1pm, there was not many people. staff is quite fluent in english! easy to order and staff was also friendly! do make a stop if your passing by. not to be missed

Small place but it’s cosy. Nice broth but the noodle is the slim n soft type .Aftertaste is strong thus a mint is needed to rid it. Overall still a good ramen place as the broth n the meat is so good and the side vegetables is v nice

Zundouya is a chain ramen shop in a side alley near Pontocho Alley in Kyoto. The whole menu is basically one broth base with various toppings. For 1200￥, I got the All-Topping Ramen, selected the thin, straight noodles, and with the maximum amount of pork fat. Holy wow, this might be one of the fattiest broths I have ever tasted. The fat is so rich and thick it clouded the soup and made it very buttery. Unfortunately, I was hoping the fat to actually be properly mixed in with the broth, but it was not the case; it was just added to the base broth. This made it lack a truly cohesive, well-rounded flavor, though despite the heavy fat, it was not too salty or oily. The mix of toppings made the whole ramen much better, as the soft chashu really fell apart and the spice and vegetables gave it an extra kick.

Very nice ramen restaurant in a next street of kiyamachi. it is a nice and friendly, open decorated restaurant. the personal was beautiful and service super fast. I have the regular no1 ramen with double noodles and more pork. they can also choose whether they want thick or thin nuds and the amount of prokfat in the suppe. it was very good, I really loved the taste of suppe and also the gay was soft and oishii. the double noodles were so much that I had problems eating everything. I recommend this place really!.
