Fantastic experience! Reservations required, so plan ahead as they book quickly! The counter seats are the best as you can watch the chefs in action. Every course was so great, but the star of the show is the pizza course. For all two guests share a pizza and can choose two different toppings to share the pizza. We had the duck and wilderness and creamy spinach. Both are phenomenal. Large selection of natural wines.... View all feedback.

Excellent, fresh, delicious. I really liked her sea red sea bass, Margherita and venison pizza and dessert. the cook mentioned the dessert was new in the menu, but please keep it! The flavors were complementary but separated enough to identify and appreciate them. You will need a reservation and expect the meal approx. 22.5 hours. The cooks can also explain the court in English. I want to come back next time.
Really can not recommend very enough. The cook and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was simple and delicious. Each course was excellent with local ingredients (many vegetables were selected only in the morning). And then to finish it, the whole restaurant is located along the path of the philosopher who is charming no matter what the season is.
An incredible, even emotional experience. From the moment you enter Monk until the moment you leave, you can feel the passion that Yoshi san (owner) and Ryo san have for this place. Fresh, delicious and incredible food, great people, incredible energy. This place is not just one of my favorites of Kyoto, it is one of my all-time favorites!
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had! We were lucky to get a reservation last minute by giving them a call, as it seems like you normally need to book far in advance. Because of this, we were seated upstairs first, which was actually very nice and felt like a private dining experience. We moved downstairs when a table freed up, which was also great to soak in the open kitchen atmosphere. The menu changes every day, based on the produce from the farmer's market, so everything is super fresh. Most dishes are roasted to perfection in the wood fired oven, which gives an amazing taste. It's hard to pick a favorite, but the roasted carrots with mozzarella and pesto really stood out! For the pizza, we chose the margherita and chrysanthemum toppings, and it was honestly one of the best pizzas we've had. Service is great, with friendly staff who can also recommend sake and wines to pair with the dinner. Would definitely recommend this place!!
