Other cafes in Gion might have stronger aesthetics, but these lattes were great and the French toast was incredible! The chef was very friendly and kind. It’s on the second floor, so just look for their sign and curtain at the base of the narrow staircase going up to their floor. Because it’s easy to miss, and it’s on the edge of Gion, we had the place to ourselves. It was definitely nice to get away from the crowds. The own... read more We found this quiet cozy cafe on busy weekend day, looking to grab a bite to eat and have coffee. We discovered that this is a small, family owned cafe. The owner spoke good English and put a lot of attention to our food, with almost everything made in house. I enjoyed the fresh salad paired with the panini sandwich, and the simple pancake paired with seasonal fruits (grapes). You can tell that the Owner puts all her heart into her craft. I can go as far as to say that this is a must-see place in Kyoto.
