A one-of-a-kind gem for unique libations! Unconventional brewing techniques, adventurous flavors, and a rustic atmosphere are sure to please. We tried two beers and a wine and loved every drop! Melissa made us feel right at home and answered all of our questions about the processes they use to brew. The Referend is a great addition to the area! View all feedback.
What larry K doesn't like about The Referend Bier Blendery:
This place is garbage…. The bartenders are inattentive and the beer is not good. It’s wanna be lambic but doesn’t have the depth or complexity or good lambic. Will not return. View all feedback.

If you love true experimental, locally sourced, wild fermented (sour) beer owned and operated by a lovely couple then this is absolutely your spot. A lot of work goes into their product and it shows. That said, if sour style isn't your jam then you might fight better options elsewhere.
Rustic farmhouse blendery producing fantastic barrel aged sour ales
AH! Such a beautiful new location in Kutztown, PA. Right now, it's members only worth every penny for a plethora of spontaneously fermented beers, each unique in it's own way. I haven't had a single beer from Referend that I didn't like. The owners are incredibly kind, the type of people you would...well, want to have a beer with. They have an incredible selection of brews, and this historic farmstead is sure to provide many more years of tasty beers and entertainment, with plans to utilize the property's vineyard and fruit trees to amplify their already fantastic brews. As mentioned by Alan G., parking will be the only concern. I'm sure this will be mitigated as they settle in, and while there is a limited number of onsite spots, the side street of the property is free public parking. We'll be back, if for no other reason to collect our membership bottles. We're super happy to see Referend move to PA, and I can't wait for them to open to the public!
