Contribute Feedback What Desmond Harris likes about Sushi Boto:
Came here on a Thursday fish was very fresh, rice was well flavoured wasn't too sweet like most Japanese places in Melbourne. The staff were excellent; attentive and pleasant. View all feedback.
Food:<br/ All the sushi we ate was amazing, loved everything on the menu. They also include special off-the-menu items that get changed every so often to provide a different experience everytime you visit.<br/ <br/ Service:<br/ The waitress who attended to us was amazing and was very quick at attending to us and all our orders/queries. She gives great recommendations and was very polite and friendly.<br/ <br/ Entry:<br/ 2 friends and I went here for dinner and while there was little sushi on the belt, they clearly explained the purpose for this and that all the sushi during dinner time was on an order basis. We had no complaints for this as it meant that we got to eat fresh sushi.<br/ <br/ Overall:<br/ I will definitely be coming back here many times. The food and service is great, and an added bonus is that when you spend a certain amount (I believe $30), you recieve a coin that you can then use at the Japanese gachapon machines (toy capsule vending machine) which I thought was a great and unique addition that helps it to stand out from the many sushi trains in Melbourne.
Will come back for:<br/ Pork Katsu Bento<br/ <br/ Came here for a bite of lunch and picked up their pork Katsu bento box. It doesn’t look big, but ingredients seems fresh, and the pork together with the curry sauce was delicious especially mixed with a little bit of rice. Simple, but hits the spot and reasonably generous for the price you pay. I will come back again for more.
Came with friend for lunch using the Zomato Gold 1+1 Food offer. It only applies to the bigger menu items such as rice bowls or udon, so we both chose the Chirashi Don (it also looked very tempting on the menu). The seafood was super fresh and the entire dish was quite beautifully presented, however they could have used a bigger bowl to make it even more photogenic. At the original price of $36 a bowl I would probably not have tried it out, but thanks to the offer, we were able to discover yet another nice place.
I love Zomato Gold. If you havent got it yet, use my code NOMN0544 to get 25% off. You pretty much start saving straightaway with their buy 1, free 1 meals.<br/ <br/ We checked out Sushi Boto for lunch today at St Collins Lane. I got lost finding this place coz..well they lied about it being a 'lane ' . The place looks like they specialise in sushi train. $3.80 per plate. But today, we went for the ala carte to make full use of the ZG offer.<br/ <br/ We ordered the chirashi don and dry aged chirashi don to share. They are $36 each but we only paid $18 each. Nothing makes me happier than scoring a good meal deal.<br/ <br/ The chirashi don was pretty good. Really can 't fault it. Yummy fresh sashimi and for $18, it was great value. For $36, i think abit too pricey. I 'd pay max $29 for it.<br/ <br/ The dry aged chirashi don was interesting. The lady did warn us it was a salty dish. Because we shared the two bowls, it wasnt too bad..but i think def would have been too salty for 1 person to finish this as a single main dish. Tbh, I havent stopped drinking water since leaving the place.<br/ <br/ The service could have been better. I hate it when i get my food but no utensils (or when i get a dish but they make u wait for rice). Like..how do you expect us to eat ha? We didnt get any soy sauce or wasabi either and had to ask for it.<br/ <br/ Would i come back? Yea, prob. Good value w the deal.<br/ <br/ Rating: 3.5/5 with the ZG deal. Id be keen to try the sushi train next though.
Located at the top floor of Collins Lane is this amazing sushi train with a twist.<br/ <br/ It is a dual concept where you not only have a sushi train but a sushi boat as well. It is a unique concept that is new to Melbourne.<br/ <br/ They do have a store at the back as well where you get to buy little cute ornaments and displays.
