The flavour of the combination veggies and rice was wonderful! The spring rolls were also delicious! The only thing I could recommend is expanding the vegetarian options. View all feedback.
Been here twice and ordered same dishes both the times because the food was just that yummy! We ordered Papaya salad (requeted chicken instead of beef) and the sweet and sour chicken in batter with steamed rice. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Will definitely come back to try the rest of the menu.
I have already been to these place for a few times. I give really harsh reviews but this place is really good and I rarely give out a 4. Food is authentic, friendly staff, very fast, byo alcohol for free. It’s quite cheap as well. I really like it.
Good typical Vietnamese restaurant. Menu is extensive, I only tried the broken rice which is very good as expected, like other Vietnamese joints. Cheap price too. Basically you won’t be disappointed but won’t be awed either. It’s probably the only Vietnamese restaurant in that area, so at least got that edge.
I have always walked past this rather inconspicuous place on Clayton Rd, Clayton and wow, what a hidden gem this place turned out to be.<br/ <br/ I'll be honest, I walked in with pretty low expectations as I'd consider myself a harsh critic on Pho places and many places have been disappointing or subpar.<br/ <br/ I've tried many places in Melbourne, with the best ones generally being in Springvale and Footscray. This adds to the list.<br/ <br/ I ordered a large Special Beef Pho it was priced at $13 but when it came out, I was pleasantly surprised in that there was a lot of garnish on top (this is often overlooked), had lots of meat (1.5x to 2x the amount of most other places), was a decent size and overall was excellent.<br/ <br/ Also to my delight, the chilli sauce on the table was the salty type chilli sauce and not Sriracha as a lot of places seem to offer nowadays.<br/ <br/ The only things that bring the score down from 5/5 to 4/5 is the chilli oil and broth could have been hotter (more spicy and hotter heatwise, respectively), and that the ubiquitous tea thermos was not on my table.<br/ <br/ Overall, highly recommended.
Pho and the chilli oil are the stars here. Great Vietnamese for the Clayton locals with ample car parking lot out the back.<br/ <br/ SERVICE: 4/5<br/ Waitress was attentive and always checking in that we were okay. The older gentleman behind the register who I presumed was the owner filled in anywhere he saw where help was needed whether taking orders, bringing out food etc. Service was pleasant throughout and would happily return.<br/ <br/ FOOD: 4/5<br/ Growing up with Springvale food, I wasn't sure about a lone Vietnamese restaurant in Clayton where it is mainly known for Indian or most recently, Chinese fare.<br/ <br/ After reading reviews about the pho here I was happy that it lived up to the expectation!<br/ <br/ Pho Dac Biet available in two sizes but the large not being THAT large so grab that size unless you're not very hungry. The broth was steaming hot and a beautiful depth of flavour. Whenever it's this tasty, I always contemplate whether to add any sauces...but of course I have to. The condiment station on every table is complete and CLEAN! That chilli oil was so good I couldn't stop lathering it on everything! Plenty of noodles and beef in the bowl as well, very happy girl here!<br/ <br/ Seafood Fried Rice pleasantly surprised how tasty this was as it came out looking so bland. It had the fabulous wok flavour and saltiness from the seafood although I will say that it only consisted of some prawns and diced fish cakes. Either way, with copious amounts of that chilli oil I finished the whole lot.<br/ <br/ Spicy Salt Calamari least favourite dish of the day. It definitely didn't look like the picture. The batter was so dense that it was almost rubbery in texture. The photo looked like delicate rice flour dusted calamari which this was not.<br/ <br/ DECOR AMBIENCE: 4/5<br/ I appreciated the spacious dining area that was clean and although stereotypical to have food photos on the wall, I do like to see the dishes when ordering. I would be happy to take my family here for a meal.<br/ <br/ KID FRIENDLY: Definitely yes, plenty of space and comfortable environment for a family meal out.
