Keng Som, Kota Bharu Excellent Halal Thai food served in Kelantan. This was our very first meal in visiting Kota Bharu and it was excellent. Affordable prices, and a lovely start to our trip in Kota Bharu. -Thai-Style Fried Fish -Chicken Tom Yam Soup -Fried Vegetables -Sizzling Tofu with egg View all feedback.
We ordered buttered prawns which was nice and the prawn was large and succulent. The lime squid was not nice, the Kam Heong chicken was not the usual Kam Heong style, the sizzling tauhu was below average, the kangkung belacan was okay. The biggest put off was there was only 2 tables occupied in the whole restaurant and they still took extremely long to bring our food and forgot one item which was the telur bawang. The bill came to rm277 for 6 of us. I think u can get better Thai or Chinese food in Kebun sultan. Was a total dissapointment. Only compliment I can give is for the prawns which is pricy as well.
The restaurant serves a variety of halal cuisine from Thailand especially seafood. Food prices are quite expensive for the local market. We tried the Siakap Keng Som Fish, Seafood Tomyam, Salted Egg Squid and Kerabu Mangga. Fresh seafood! The waitress are friendly and attentive. It tastes good and matches the price. About RM100 for 3 people including drinks. You are advised to make an advance booking of food as many customers do so. If you order after reaching the place, you will have to wait a little bit for your food. The restaurant is air-conditioned. It is also clean and comfortable. (I did not check the situation in the kitchen). Toilets and handwashing are also clean for the local restaurant standad.
Followed tripadvisor’s recommendation and found this restaurant. Waiters and waitress were courteous and helpful. The restaurant is clean. Ordered Keng Som Siakap steamed fish, salted fish fried fish, steamed squids in lime and chilled and Seafood tom yam clear soup. The food was decent with not overpowering sweetness and ingredients were fresh. However, the price was on the high side. With three plates of white rice, two glasses of water plus food, the bill came up to MYR95. The fish was a small half fish and all the other dishes were small or medium in size. I believe that there are other more reasonable restaurants whose food is equally good after all it’s Kota Bharu.
Too expensive! beware if you order butterprawn will cost you 10ringgit for single prawn! ordered 12 pcs cost us 120ringgit!!! 2 jugs of water cost us 50ringgit!!
The thai style seafood here surprised us with authentic and its special taste! We love the egg york soft shell crab, steam fish, XO sauce prawn and mussels! MUST TRY!
