Contribute FeedbackThe Koonwarra Store is a charming establishment known for its "slow food" and beautiful atmosphere. Despite some hiccups with long wait times and food quality, the friendly staff and rustic setting make for a pleasant experience. The menu is comprehensive, featuring everything from calamari to gourmet burgers, and the regional wine and beer list is a bonus. Overall, the service is outstanding, the coffee fantastic, and the ambiance inviting. A great spot to stop for a meal or coffee break while traveling through the area.
We stopped at the Koonwarra Store for lunch today. We were on a drive with friends who had been there many times before and we are glad they shared this little gem with us. The food was amazing and the servings large. We all chose something from the daily specials, Rogan Josh, Roast Pork and fish, it was all great. The service was quick and our friendly Colombian waiter was a pleasure to meet. They also sell local produce, jams, wine etc. We will be back.
I must say that the service, location and rustic style of Koonwarra Store is fantastic. From the moment we arrived, we enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and friendly (really helpful) staff. Having commenced our dining experience outdoors amongst the garden and eclectic table and chair settings; it was clearly no bother to the staff to relocate us as we started our meal and as it got a tad chilly. In fact Louis is extremely well mannered and caring.I will say that my companion's fish and chips were perfectly well cooked with way too many chips (and that's a good thing). My roast of the day (pork), albeit with wonderful flavours, a sensible selection of seasonal vegetables and a lovely home-made apple sauce was (sadly) barely lukewarm and at least a third of the meat (even more sadly) was just gristle and fat. BUT, Louis saved the day by ensuring plate was replenished with a more substantial pile of pork (without the gristle and fat); the only down side being that the additional service of pork was still barely lukewarm.Ultimately though, I will (when in the area) certainly return to enjoy their good service and good food in the hope that experience will be even better next time
Overpriced and trading on their old reputation. Needs a big lift from the menu down. Often stop for a takeaway coffee but only because it's the only place open not because I want to specifically stop there.
Stumbled upon this place on the way back to inverloch. Had coffee and cake with the kids. A great place to stop and staff were accomodating and friendly. A definite place to stop in for a good coffee and ambience.
We called in for lunch after hearing great things and the food did not disappoint. I had a southern fried chicken burger relish with fries to die for. My husband chose the terrine that he also enjoyed. Our waiter was very friendly but the only one serving outside, so under pressure. We stood at the front door waiting to be seated as the sign asked and although there is a bell on the door alerting staff of arrivals we did not even get a look or nod to say, we'll be right there. We were eventually seated in the beautiful garden. After finishing lunch we were keen for a coffee and maybe a slice of what looked like delicious cake but again could not catch anyone's attention... the chefs do an amazing job but am afraid they were let down by front of house today...
