We stayed in Gorizia, a gastronomic trip, we identify these restaurants, YES with a capital S, we book for Sunday lunch. Already the environment upon arrival was wow, Chef Ago accommodates us directly at the table, under the climbing grapes, from there a crescendo! Fabulous cuisine! The service of the boy impeccable. This is a review for the restaurant. Excellent tasting food and a good and friendly waiter. However the super bites left me wanting more. Like hiša Franko in Kobarid and Galerija Okusov near Celje some of the Michelin rated restaurants in Slovenia leave unsatisfied after the experience. This is a review for the restaurant. Excellent tasting food and a good and friendly waiter. However the super bites left me wanting more. Like hiša Franko in Kobarid and Galerija Okusov near Celje some of the Michelin rated restaurants in Slovenia leave unsatisfied after the experience. Great when it taste wonderful, very disappointing when you go home and are feeling you wanted more after spending 3 hours at the table and more than 80€ per person. As usual I took the time to share the experience with the waiter so this review should not be a surprise. Location: 4
My wife and I stayed overnight at Spacapanova Hisa as a stop on a 7-day cycling tour, and we had dinner and breakfast there. This was a memorably great stay and I highly recommend it. It’s a small operation where the owner seems to do everything: host, sommelier, waiter, food runner, busboy, and presumably cooking a lot of the food. It’s a labor of love, and his passion really comes through. The food was really excellent. We dined at several Michelin star restaurants on the trip, and the food and experience at Spacapanova was equally special while being far less pretentious (and half the price). Everything is homemade, down to the beer, wine, balsamic vinegar, bread, and cured meats. So impressive! Meanwhile, the hotel was clean, comfortable, and air conditioned, and the breakfast was spectacular. Our cycling itinerary didn’t allow us to spend much time in the town, so I can’t speak for the surroundings. But as a stop on a tour, this was such a delightful surprise.
