Orion Cafe - Koh Phangan

Mixed experience here…the food is hit and miss, but mostly good. The staff-member who served us seemed to go out of his way to be rude. Really weird, aggressive energy. Perhaps he was just having a bad day, but I’d expect people to be able to at least be polite. He also turned off the music at 9pm leaving us in awkward total silence while sung loudly in Thai. Perhaps the management can use some of the proceeds from the overpriced food on some staff training? Updated from previous review on 2022-02-10

I'm updating my review after trying this place over the years and happy to see it's fully vegan for some time already. I love coming here because of the healthy options and there's a whole menu of even healthier detox options for those really wanting to eat clean. There are plenty of possibilities to please everyone including more decadent vegan junk food like beyond burgers and great desserts. It's one of my favorite go to places on Koh Phangan and it seems to keep getting better and better. Updated from previous review on 2014-11-14

We were here for Christmas and I have to say I loved it because Eric was there too, haha. In terms of the restaurant, I have to say I was quite annoyed with the procedure of it all. It started with queuing up and having to make a decision and pay for it immediately rather than sitting down and getting our order taken. I know I sound like an entitled ... but I just pictured my Christmas dinner to be different rather than having to fuss first about what to eat and then having to pay for it all in one go. It just ruined the experience and the whole vibe was weird. No music either during a Christmas dinner! Anyway, the food was okay and I liked the raw sushi. And did I mention Eric? I mean, that was the real Christmas treat haha!

If you want good food and great view, definitely come here. I had Omega smotoohie and PBJ toast. Simple, but so great!! Updated from previous review on 2018-12-27

Lovely location for this yoga retreat and restaurant. Struggle to find a better view whilst you eat, simply stunning! The food has been good so far, been a couple of times already on Christmas day. Had the mango smoothie bowl which was ok but the dried fruit was quite hard unfortunately. Toast and Jam was good, coffee was ok but came in a very small cup. Went back in the evening for the Christmas Dinner special menu. The food tasted good but they brought out all the courses at the same time which was a little bizarre. By the time you had the appetiser and entree, the main was cold so disappointing.
