Good plac... read more Great location and experience. The food and drinks at the restaurant are delicious. The staff is friendly. The hostel is decent considering the price. Good place to socialize and make new friends. Kochelsee is 5 min walk away, perfect for a refreshing dip in the lake. Heimatbühne bus stop is just outside, which will take you to Bahnhof and Walchensee. Early morning coffee and breakfast are not available as the restaurant opens at 11:30. Breakfast is available at Sonnenspitz 7:30 onwards which is 5 min walk away. Not a lot of space to dry wet clothes. These things could be improved for a better experience.

We received a very friendly welcome and the principle was explained...you first have to reserve your table because of the table number, then go inside and place your order yourself from a tray. (Direct payment, including a tip, without knowing what the service is like, is actually quite odd. The food and drinks ordered from the tray are brought to your table. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a lot of miscalculation or something similar, so our table next door was supposed to receive three drinks that we hadn't ordered. We ordered three dishes; dishes 1 and 2 arrived at the table at the same time, but dish 3 didn't arrive until dishes 1 and 2 had almost finished their meals. We decided not to order another drink at this terminal because there were problems with the first order and it then took 10 minutes to complete the order. Despite everything, the staff were very friendly and the view while eating is a dream.

No one was on site, the check-in process was complicated, and emails disappear into spam folders, and not just for us. Four other backpackers from abroad arrived with us; without us, they'd probably still be at the door today. Luckily, one of the guests found the email and was able to give us the tip. My opinion: spend 40 or 50 euros more, stay at a nice local hotel, and enjoy breakfast in the morning—because that wasn't available at the Bergblick either, but that was obvious. So we paid 85 euros without anything, and we also had to make the beds and clean up blood stains on the bed. I hope they were from mosquitoes that had been swatted at some point...
